So, I know the general rule is - spend no more than 3 times your annual income on a home. So, $100k/year would buy you a $300k house. Say you have a decent downpayment of around $70k to put down and get a monthly mortgage of $1.7k then wouldn't you be able to afford that even if you only brought in around $4k/month?

Just wondering.

I got out of the Navy in Feb. 07 and still in the reserves. But my delima is I've worked as a pest control guy which didn't pay squat. I applied for a distributing company and they hired me and now working longer hours and more stress but a little bit more money. Should I keep looking or focus on sticking with this co.? My wife says I'm a complainer, she doesn't work and I support her and her three kids. I don't know but am very frusterated.

Im trying to rebuild my credit and get a new car. I have about 5 collection accounts, 1 charge off, and a high balance student loan in payment. I know the secured and macys card won't help much, so I need something else to boost my scores. I don't know what to apply for..I'm in the state of Georgia. My local bank if BOFA for 3 years, my scores are not high enough for their card and I hear their secured doesn't report. I'm scared to apply for auto financing through them. What should I apply for?

My neighbor, who rents her house, put up a few Halloween decorations last week. She put a wreath on her door and a couple of those lightup pumpkins on the porch. She got a call from the landlord a couple of days later telling her to put the decorations away (I guess she had driven by) because the landlord doesn't celebrate Halloween because it is a pagen festival and she didn't want anyone from her church who sees the house to think she is condoning the celebration of the holiday.

I told my neighbor that I don't think she could forbid her from decorating, but I wasn't sure. Does anyone know if your landlord can prevent you from decorating for the holdays?

I am self-employed and am sending in my first ever tax return, so am not quite sure what I can deduct from my tax bill. I work mainly from home, but also in front of clients.
Can I use rent, electricity etc?
Can I deduct any of the expenses on clothes, make-up etc used for work?
My mobile phone is a billpay, so I am not charged for individual calls, just the overall monthly charge. Could I charge all of the bill, even though I do make some personal calls?

Im a young high school graduate! i bought a 18 G car, and borrow 16 G from the car dealer! Now i can't afford to pay for it! i called up the finance ppl from the dealer, and they said they would reposcess(spelling) my car! They would then auction it, and if it doesnt meet the 16 G, i would have to pay the difference! Is there a better solution?? i made a mistake, now i want to start over!!!

I friend recently told me that if I sign up for a credit monitoring service and regularly check my credit reports, my beacon score will go down each time as though a potential creditor were running my report. Is this true? Or do potential creditors know that it is me that is looking at the credit? Basically, if I frequently check my credit through one of these services, will it make my credit worse? Thanks!
