I would like to stop having taxes withheld from my paychecks. I understand that I will still be liable for paying them come tax season. Is it ok if I go ahead and change my W4 to exempt? I plan on paying my taxes of course, just later. Am I allowed to do this?

If you make a payment greater than the amount you have in the bank, will the money be paid ?

About 10 years ago, my foster sister desperately needed a car. I loaned her $3200. She eventually repaid me $500. Since then, there have been several more "loans" she has forgotten, or simply left unpaid. I've really had enough of being her ATM machine, and would like to reclaim the only loan of which I have any proof - namely, the remaining $2700 for the car.
Is there a statute of limitations on personal loans? The evidence I have is a note written in her hand stating she owed $3200, paid $500, and has a remaining debt of $2700. Each of us has signed it. Is this adequate? Could I also sue her for the court costs?
Additionally, how can I start the case? We don't live in the same area, so I don't know to which district I should go. Have I obligations to her other than adequate notification (cert. letter?)
Please don't suggest I let bygones be bygones. Our relationship has been terminated, and the only loss I regret is that of my time and money.
Thank you for your assistance.

Okay, I have 4 credit cards at the moment.

A Bank of America Preferred Visa: $7,000 credit limit.
American Express Blue: $8,000 credit limit.
American Express Clear: $7,000 credit limit.
Discover More: $5,000 credit limit.

My question is...would it be wise for me to combine/consolidate the two AmEx credit cards and just keep one? Does AmEx even allow for this to be done? I just don't like having two of their cards...it's just another extra thing to keep up with. It seemed like a good idea at first, but...

I want to get a 2nd job but will child support garnish my income from my 2nd job also? Will they deducted more than I have to pay for each month or will they take half from my 1st job and half from my 2nd job?

I live in California and unsure of how child support handles this in my state.

Canada Revenue charges about 40% of my salary and I don't quite see where all this money goes. Have you ever analysed the quality of health care..or easily enough...if you drive around Toronto you will see that asphalt is not always there...and yes..the city is very dirty!

Also, why are there schools campaigning to raise money? Isn't 40% of our salaries sufficient to provide for the "public" institutions?

Pro-illegals keep making the comment that illegal immigrants pay taxes as if they are making an equal contribution. I just don't understand how they can continue to confidently make this comment considering the majority of illegals are getting paid "under-the-table". Sure, maybe they pay sales tax but they seem to act as if paying sales tax is making an equal contribution in comparison people who pay sales and income tax. Obviously, they're not equal. Real Americans pay both. Plus, a large percentage of their income is being spent in Mexico and not the U.S. so there goes a large portion of the sales tax.

We signed a contract 18 months ago and gave $2500 for deposit on a rent to own house. We loved the house, and the landlord said the neighbors were nice and had never had any problems with them before. I realize that in the contract we signed, the deposit is non refundable. Neighbors have stolen things from us, someone spray painted the mailbox , and the other neighbors are nosy, they call the county for ANYTHING. Every month we get a warning from the county or animal control. This is not the areas we want to raise our kids in, and we want out. We are in the process of buying a house (for cash), but we have to redo the interior before we can move in (no cabinets, bathrooms, flooring, etc...) It'll take a couple of weeks before we can move in, and we don't want to pay the $1000 rent here. We are no longer under a lease, month to month right now, and she wants to file an eviction notice (rent was due sunday). How can I stay here just long enough to fix my other house???

I was recently audited, I work for a railroad and am required to have a phone, so I claimed it as an employee business expense, it was disallowed in the audit, I was allowed to deduct my cell phone but not the home line.
In addition I keep a vehicle at my away from home terminal to use when I eat, it is not required but the company does not provide a way to get meals at the away fromhome terminal. The vehicle mileage log I keep was also disallowed.
Other employees have been audited and were allowed the exact same deductions, there seems to be no consistency in the field auditors. Are these deductions valid in my case or is the auditor correct?

I live in a 1 bd/1 ba apartment complex..everyday I see most of my neighbors at home, drinking, sitting around, with atleast 2+ children...I won't say what race.

What I always wanted to know is exactly how much money does the government give-- for these people to be able to pay for electric bills, car payments, cable/ internet, constant alcohol consumption/ smoking habits, children's food/ clothing...I mean they can survive without working, while some peopole work everyday and barely are able to pay for bills/ daycare, etc..

IIt's the biggest mystery to me..someone enlighten me please.

Why should we pay for others mistakes? Hasn't anyone learned not to bite off more than you can chew?
People should know what they can afford and buy accordingly. I should not have to pay more taxes because someone can't budget. If they want to buy a house with adjustable mortgage, they should know the consequences.

What's your opinion.

I'm doing an essay on the change from UK GAAP to IFRS and was wondering if anyone had any info on this regarding intangible assets and goodwill? As far as I can see, both standards are the same and its really annoying me that I cant find any differences. If anyone's got company examples, that'd really help.

Ok...I must admit. I was young and dumb. I received a credit card when I was 15 very easily over the phone by lying about my age. They even called me! Og course, knowing nothing about credit I did what a 15,16 year old would do - shop. Now at 22 me and my lying has hurt my credit score. It didn't matter to me then but now I have graduate and trying to establish myself. Credit is essential in this process! I was going to dispute this stating that at the time of the contractual agreement I was a minor and it was the cc company's responsibility to verify that my SSN and birth date matched. I read this in a credit forum. Is this true and does it work? Have anyone ever done this?

I will never do this sh*t again. I feel depressed and embarrased about my score when I try to obtain credit or a loan now. I need some serious advice. Thanks.

im obsessed with music in general...im constantly listening to it and i hate when someone tries to talk to me while im listening to my ipod, haha, because what they say isnt more important than the song im listening to. im also intrigued by business and ive take a couple business classes in high school that i really like. my parents dont know why id wanna work in the music biz but idk it seems like it would be a cool job. idk what type of job id want, but my school has a new "music business" class that im taking next year. ive already looked into schools with music biz majors and the curriculum actually looks fun cause you get to learn about music and business. is my love of music and facination with business enough to possibly make this a good career fit for me?
