Okay so I have some medical bills on my credit that are outstanding. I no longer get bills from these companies so have no way of contacting them to pay them. What can I do about that? They are from 2000 and 2002, will they come off my credit after so many years? I also had a credit card when I was younger that was sent to collections, I paid the amount that the company required but it is still on my credit. Help, I am 26 now and would like to get my credit back on track??

My husband insists on rigging his w-4 so that we pay out a lot in taxes and get a 6,000 to 7,000 tax refund every year. While this has been nice and something to look forward to every Janurary, I want to start saving and investing. I think he should have more tax home pay so we can start a retirement account and long-term savings. (Right now we have nothing).

He doesn't want to and says "absolutely not". I know this is because it is fun to have a lump sum of money to do things with. But I think we could be using or money more wisely.

THoughts?

I have a friend who is claiming too few withholding allowances on his W-4. He believes that his "withholding allowance" on W-4 should be the same number as his "personal exceptions" on 1040-EZ. I told him, the number are often the same, but in his case, he can claim higher. He claims 2, for himself and his son, but according to the W-4, he can claim 7.

Why should I worry about this? Because he lives paycheck to paycheck, and often borrows money from friends, until "refund day", when the tax refund comes back. He also pays company XYZ to give a speedy refund. He always complains to me about money woes.

When I asked him to change the number on the W-4, he at first told me, that was illegal to state a higher number then "household people". After I shown him a W-4, he changed the argument to "I like my big returns/I don't want to owe money to the IRS". How can I blow this argument out of the water? Is there a benefit to the Uncle Sam saving program? Thanks for the advice.

My wife and I both enjoy excellent credit and we desire to purchase a doublewide manufactured home. However, there seems to be a problem with finding lenders for manufactured homes. One lender offered us 25 yrs at 11% with 10% down. Thats insane to me. Our credit scores ( high 700s) calls for a rate far lower even if it is a manufactured home.
Can someone out there with experience help us? We need some lending institutions that WILL finance a manufactured home so we can find the best rate possible.

I am just curious as to any opinions as to how my brother is making his living... he is 31, and going to anesthesia school (for the past 12 years he has been in school) and it is just to be an nurse who administers anesthesia. He has two kids, a wife who is a stay at home mom, a car payment, a house payment, and all the house expenses. He is currently unemployed so he has to pay his own insurance... my mother says he has a 'cost of living' loan through the school that is only available to students. Is there really such thing? I just don't see how this is possible to have a family and no income.

She is willing to do this in order for us to get a reverse mortgage loan. Will we have to go through a lawyer or can this be done at little or no expense? If I die first she will sell the house and then pay off the loan. Also we plan to make a will leaving her the house, so she will be the owner and will be able to sell , pay the loan and move in with her sister. My question is how to legally remove her from the title in order to start the loan process, without costing us.

Found the house of my dreams, however they are asking $119,000 which I am not willing to pay because of the location and value just isn't that high in that town, plus it needs a new roof, so I was thinking $80,000-$100,000 however I cannot afford a payment like that, I like around $500 including taxes and insurance, is there anywhere out there that can make this possible, so I can have my dream home

I just recently got a credit card after having bad credit for a long time. I used most of the available credit paying some bill and things but I am able to make a payment on the card now ( I haven't received my first bill yet). Should I wait until the bill comes or will paying it sooner affect my credit the same?

I applied for a mortgage today and got a rate of 6.0% if I lock today (I still did not). This is a 30 year/fixed, 20% downpayment and I have to pay down 2.75 points to get this rate. There is no additional fee for it if I lock 30 days out. However, I'm still 50 days out. For 45 days out I have to pay 1/8 of a point and for 60 days out 1/4 of a point. My question is, should I lock now since the rate is good or should I wait and risk an increase in interest rates. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

My separation agreement states that the company will pay you all accrued but unused vacation time earned by you through the Separation date. The employer is stating that because I was laid off 2 weeks before I could use my vacation that they will not pay the accrued time. Also, they say that this sep agreement is different from the company policy agreement and that they must use the company policy agreement.

Please advise. Thanks.
