My great-grandfather worked at the "Virginia-Carolina Chemical Company" in Georgia during the 1950's and 60's.

I do not know when he worked their exactly, or any other information. I was told about it from my grandmother, and she was wanting me to look up more information about it.

She was only a small child when her father worked there. He died in the early 1970's due to cancer which is to believed to be caused by his position at the aforementioned company.

So, any information is greatly appreciated.

Thank You,
Tony S.

After bills, money saved toward retirement, and spending money - am I better off placing extra $$$ toward the principal on my mortgage or placing it in my mutual fund.

I hate having debt, and would love to have my 30-year mortgage paid in 20. And barring the unforseen, I will be able to do it, but I hear some say commit to investing that money (probably $300 a month) into my mutual fund.

I need some unbiased answers.

I work in a service oriented job and take care of rich and not to rich people. It just blows my mind how people with money and their kids think they're better cause they have money. Just cause I go under their house and get dirty (cause their to good to), they think they're above me? Some people inherented that money and their parents were poor and worked their way up. So if your a rich brat like Paris Hilton and think your better than me, I'd like to hear your thought.

I'm not clear - when your earned income goes into the next tax bracket, does that mean ALL your earned income is taxed at the higher rate or just the amount inside the new bracket?

How would I phone the manager and ask what his first and last name is? I don't want to sound like I'm in control of the conversation because I don't want him to feel pushed to a corner with things like "What is your first and last name?". I am phoning him because I am writing a cover letter for my resume and I need his first and last name to address him in the cover letter.

I purchased a home a little over a year ago. At the time I borrowed a loan the appraisal came at $180,000. I'm trying to sell the home now and the appraisal came out to only $156,000. How is that possible when only a year ago it came out to $180,000? Not only that, but the county assessor is assessing it at $210,000. I'm pretty sure that the appraisal is low for the area, especially since other homes have gone for well over $200,000. It is a rural area and I don't think the appraiser took that into consideration. The median sale of a home in the town is $350,000. The buyers really want the home, but the lender will only lend them 75% of the value and I can't afford to hold a second note, especially since I owe about $142,000. What do I do? Do I order a second appraisal? Do I confront the current appraiser? What?

My bill is about $600, if I pay half of that ($300) for this billing period as my minimum and the other half as the new balance for next billing period, does that mean i will start getting interest charged to my card? I have been paying in full until now so I've never had this problem and I really don't want to have to start paying interest now. Any advice?
