We have a substantial amount of tax debt that is burying us financially...we are making payments but we also need a new car. There is a lien on our home so we are unable to get either a consolidation loan or a loan for the car...we both work and so having two cars is non-negotiable. Does anyone know if it's worth if to file an OIC on our own...or should we hire a tax attorney?

OK, im an admin. assistant i am 19 years old. This guy i work with USE to be in charge of our office like 5 years ago. Then my boss hired him back for the hurricane season(i work for a disaster relief company). So he is in and out of the office to go work in the field. WELL, when he is in the office, he expects me to get all his work and plus some. He gets paid salary of $1500.00 a week. I get paid hourly $9.50 a week. Well, when he gets in town, i dread it, bc im gonna get swamped with his work. Well, when he gets mad at me when i say, "I can't get to your project right now, it'll be tomorrow until i do" he gets irrate. He blew up on me yesterday bc he couldnt get a rise out of me, then he started to call me names and kept egging me on. So i blew up and sound like a complete monster. He wrote me up and gave to my supervisor, which my supervisor shredded it. He says he knows how that guy is, but how am i suppose to handle it? My boss' are on vacation right now.

I was told the best option is to take out a home equity loan, but I do not have enough equity in my house to do so. The condo is in St. Martin and is an absolute steal at $65.000. I would use the condo as a vacation home. I have good credit and income.

I am non-US citizen and worked almost 6 years in the US on an H1 visa but did not accumulate enough social security points to be eligible for any social security benefits. Does the US - like other countries - pay back contributions in such cases?

my son and his wife moved this weekend. They spend 14 hours scrubbing everything in their 2 bedroom apt because they were sure their landlord was coming through with a finetooth comb.
Of course he did. He told him that they had to return the apt back to like new condition because he had someone waiting to move in as soon as they moved out. My understanding was that your were to return it to the same condition that you rented in BUT normal wear and tear was expected. The landlord said he was too busy to clean and paint and that was their responcibility to have it ready for the next tenents to move right in. Is this realy the way it works? They have lived their for 3 and half years and he has been a pain in butt the whole time and realy they have been great tenents, always paid rent on time and took care of the place.

I recently filed a chapter 7 after having to have major surgery. I have tried to make payments on my bike but was told I couldnt by my attorney until the bankruptcy was filed. After I filed I called the loan company about my bike. They said to continue to make payments and that they would work with me. I made two payments and they decided not to work with me and they want me to surrender the bike. I have done a lot of changes to the bike do to an accident that I had on it. I have changed the motors, seat, bags and put some after market parts on it. My question is when I surrender it and it doesnt have orginal parts on it will what will happen? Will I owe money even though I filed a chapter 7 on the loan and is it legal for me to keep some of the extras that I put on it and give them as little of the bike back as possible. Like maybe just the frame and wheels?????

We all know that collision and comprehensive coverages demand high premiums these days. I also know that if your vehicle is financed and you don't provide a lender with adequate insurance or your insurance is expired or whatever, such lenders can insure the collateral themselves, EVEN AFTER a loss has occured - theft, accident, fire, etc.
My question is: Why couldn't I do the same? That is, wait for an accident to happen or your vehicle to be stolen, AND THEN purchase insurance, wait a period of time, and file a claim.
I realize that you'd have a hard time proving an accident occured while your policy was active; police probably need to make an on site report, appraisers can detect the age of the damage and other shortcomings. But what about THEFT? If your vehicle is stolen and you do not file a police report, then buy coverage, wait some time, report the theft as it just happened and then file a claim? What are your chances?
I'd appreciate pragmatic responses, w/o ethical aroma.

I have a tremendous passion for helping the unfortunate, or those unable to help themselves, (elderly, children...)I was interested in being a police officer but i decided that wasn't for me. I was working towards my AA in criminal justice but now I think i'll get it in psychology. I would like to work hands on with kids but i have no formal experience in day cares or anything like that. I've grown up with children and I love them to death. Especially infants. I think theyre so adorable. My gf and her stepmom and friends were discussing what I could do but came up with few conclusions. IDEAS? =)

It must pay reasonably well. My girlfriend is going to be a teacher and a stay at home mother for several years. I would like to take as little school as possible. Preferably a bachelor's degree.
