People who advise people on house repairs?

Question

What are those people called that come in sometimes when people are flipping houses? They look over the houes and tell you what needs to be done with houses in distressed conditions?

I'm not talking interior design im talking structural people. Ty.

Like they will say okay, you have termites, the foundation needs to be lifted, this or that is not up to code, etc.

They are called "home inspector". They will do a "home inspection" to determine whats good and bad about the property. Ex: Termites, interior/exterior problems, etc

A home inspector and/or a structural engineer. If I were flipping places, I'd use the engineer. Many home inspectors are unlicensed or only need to meet minimal licensure requirements in some states. Tread carefully with them!

I think what you are describing sounds like a home inspector. They are certified and usually required before the sale of a house.

Real estate appraisers. They have to be licensed, and follow an inspection, which can take several hours. They carry a large notebook, and refer to specifics. They do the home inspections before the purchase is sanctioned by the lender.

home inspector...he will tell you whats wrong and possible fixes as well as possible cost...i suggest having one go in as a contingency before closing on a property. if they discover a major flaw, you can get out of a deal....also, you can have a contractor come in and give it a once over and estimate costs
