I inherited timeshare in Makaha,HA from my parents. They paid over $20,000 when they bought it. It is now worth $3,500., minus the cost of probate/escrow. What's left? I encourage people to look into renting before buying. My timeshare fees are approx. $800.00 a year. To rent the unit would be approx. $800.00. I contacted the main office in Los Angeles, CA, asked what is the advantage of owning vs. renting. I never got a reply. I wonder why my parents bought. They were intelligent people. Like so many people of that era, they saved their money, paid in cash, went through the depression, went through the war. My dad, I'm proud to say a "survivior" of the Japan prison camp. I'm a suvivior of cancer and their message was to enjoy. Our time shared together out live the financial loss of the timeshare.

I am thinking of selling my second residence in California. I originally put $60,000 down and owe $140,000. It is now worth approx. $400,000.

I realize I have to pay capital gains, and understand the way around it.

My question is, do I have to pay capital gains on the whole $400,000 (or sale price) or just on the profit once I pay off the $140,000?

Thanks

I am buying a home and I was told I would need to pay about $500.00 for a survey. I received a package from my title company I am using today with a survey in it, but it is dated 1982. Is this going to work? Why would they send me this?

I'm currently thinking of applying on all three this summer. I have a full-time job but seeking to replace with a part-time job to pay my bills and make room for school. I plan on applying for 2 loans: $10,000 for auto and another $15,000 on student loan. I have limited credit history of 8 months with a credit score ranging from 640-660 maybe even at 680 due to regular payments on my 2 credit card bills. I've had my current job for a year and a month but working here won't get me anywhere that is why I decided to further my career by going back to college. I am also currently applying for my financial aid as a full-time student to help out with school's tuition and expenses. I could probably deal with $400-500 a month payments for the two loans and I have minimal payments for my living and misc expenses. But would this be a good decision? I need experienced individuals to advice and give suggestions pls. Thank you very much!

I live in Ireland, are you able to get a loan, make the bar, pay it off? And if I started the business, would I have to go to college to learn to become a bartender to tend my own bar? Because I wouldnt want to not work in it...

Any input would be great, thanks.

My aunt abused her POA for Grandma and sold one of her properties (we have been to a lawyer who states the sale was legal). My aunt used Grandma as the "lender" or the mortgage company per se. Grandma does not want to be the lender. She is 87 years old and this is a 30 year note for $80K with 2%, yes that's TWO percent interest. We would like to know how to make the borrowers refinance the loan elsewhere, or how my Grandma can sell the loan. One of the borrowers has recently passed away, can we use that to ask them to refinance? Please HELP!

i guess ebooks could cover anything, from electronic copies of manuals to your favourite novel.

i am curently stuck in a dead end part-time job, and desperately need to get out. i'd love to work for myself earning money my own way and then i though of ebooks. i don't have incredibly fast typing skills but they are accurate, i can use all main microsoft packages (inc. publisher) and can learn new programs quickly.

but what i wanna know is: who writes these things? where would i start? can i do it too from home? and what sort of money could i make?
i don't need a lot to live on and a minimum of the equivalent of £60 (approx US$120 or AU$143) a week would be fine.

My husband and I are first time homebuyers and not at all familiar with this real estate stuff. We have found a house we really like, and went through the whole negotiating process with the seller (which is a bank, b/c the house was a foreclosure). They finally accepted our offer and we signed a sales contract. I recently rode by the house and there was another real estate agent at the house showing it to another potential buyer. My question is, if they receive another bid that is better than ours, can the seller(bank) back out of the contract with us? Also, is it normal for the house to continue to be shown even though a sales contract has been signed on the house? Thanks so much for all the help!

In training, we're told we are only allowed to miss 2 full days in the first 90 days before they terminate you. I recently missed 4 days due to a painful miscarriage, and they are considering letting me go...is this grounds for a lawsuit? I wasn't admitted to the hospital; however, I did end up in the ER on the third day...

I need to make some extra money (the more the better). The thing is, I don't believe in all these "money making" schemes, because you have to pay for them to tell you what to do. I often think that they are just making money off of selling you the "program" and the program may or may not even work. They are just using it to make money.

So, if you have any realistic ideas of how I could make a side income without "paying" someone to get me started, I would love to hear about it.

Thank you for your time.
