1st answer is not right...

on a Home loan application (1003 form) it asks if you have declared bankruptcy in the past 7 years...and if it is over 10 years old it will not appear on your credit report (if it does you should have it removed)...

in any case, if it is that old it should have no affect on being accepted or denied anyway....you can get a conforming loan, out of bk for 2 years with exceptions 4 years no problem.

Your first step is to see if it still shows up on your credit report. You are allowed to order a free copy of your credit file from each of the credit reporting agencies once every 12 months. This is to allow you to check your file for inaccuracies and possible identity theft. Like I said, it is free to do so once every 12 months and if the bankruptcy doesn't show up anywhere, I wouldn't be concerned about saying anything about it unless you really want to.

If the question is asked without a time frame I would advise to answer truthfully. It could possibly still be showing up on your credit report. Any dishonesty can cause the loan request to be denied.

If it ask it you have ever filed for bankruptcy you had better answer yes no matter how old. If you lie and answer no, technically you have committed criminal fraud. doesnt matter if it shows on your credit report.

you should...b/c they will get your credit report anyway and it will be on there. So you shouldn't lie. It shouldn't effect whether or not you get the loan b/c it was so long ago. Good Luck
