I started an S Corp this year that only has expenses , no profits. My husband is also employed. Do I need to do two separate files for the S Corp and personal? I thought that S Corp profits and losses pass through to the owner, so what does that mean in terms of filing taxes? Can anyone help???

I am looking for a clerical job in the chicago suburb area, but using career buider and monster.com is really frustrating me. There seem to be so many jobs, but almost every single one turns out to require staffing co. interviews. They're really tricky about it, b/c unless you know names of staffing co.'s, you don't realize you are getting a general interview with them and not the direct employer. They make sure not to tell you what they are until you show up for an interview either. Anyway, is there a way to block them out when job searching? Is there another place to look for jobs that has not been taken over by them?

There was a hail storm in our area and may (most) homes had roof damage, including mine. 95% of the homes in my subdivision have gotten new roofs from homeowners insurance claims. However, my adjuster said my roof was not damaged "enough" to warrant a new roof, only repair/patching to the back side of the roof. I have Allstate and so do several neighbors. Their claims were paid, in full, with now questions asked. The difference between my claim and theirs is the adjuster. They all had a different one than me. I have called and written the main office locally and the corporate office in Illinois, to no avail. They tell me my only recourse is to take them to court.

Hi,
basically i am in a bit of a mess, well i think i am anyways and i would just like peoples views on how i should get out of it

In october, i had an overdraft of £450 put on my bank account, and because i was in debt at the time and trying to pay all my bills i put it on and thought its okay, i can live off it. Well now its caught up with me, my other bills are in arrears because all i bring home each month is enough to pay my overdraft! the rest i get from child tax credit and child benefit goes on bills and looking after my baby.
Basically, i need to get out the overdraft cycle, and i need it paying off and taking off once and for all its causing so many problems.
i dont know if my bank would be able to help me
any advice would be great, i dont want any answers which say stop spending money because when you have a house and a family to look after it isnt that simple!
Thanks in advance for any input

I want to find an IT job that pays a livable wage 40k a year or so that doesnt demand your life revolve around it. I want to do my job well but when the day is done go home and forget it. No on call.

Does such a job exist. I used to have one but now that morons depend on technology they seem to drink the blood of IT people and Im getting sick to death of it.

Im either underqualified for network admin jobs or cant take the pay cut because support jobs dont pay with a damn

For the whole year of 2005 as well as half of 2006 I worked as 1099. However, the employer I worked for demanded that I work at a specific location mon-fri from 9 to (whenever they would let me leave... sometimes 9, 10pm - sometimes i wouldn't leave).

Reading the IRS's guidelines for how to classify tax filing, they state that if you can't work when you want, where you want to accomplish a "contract," then you are not an independent contractor. You are an employee - and your employer should be withholding tax and sending that into the IRS.

My employer did not do this and I filed as an Independent Contractor. The taxes were very steep. Now I am in a pickle for 2006 because I worked for half the year also as 1099, even though technically I was an employee.

How do I:

a. Refile or Amend for 2005 - what forms, etc.?
b. File as an employee for 2006 even though I had a 1099?

Will my ex-employer be penalized? Preferably, I don't want any harsh action taken. HELP!!!!

Thank you!

my work just recently promoted one of my fellow employees. three of us were up for it, and we both completely disagree with the decision made. if you were gunna promote someone, who would you promote, a, b or c?

a. female, 20, been here for 6 months (since opening), closest to employer, average sales, works on the weekends as well, late weekly, doesn't associate with other employees, very to-herself

b. female, 19, been here for 4 months, always on time, makes consistant high sales, associates with all workers, very chummy with all workers, answers new employee questions

c. female, 22, been here for 5 monthss, opens up on time daily, makes consistant good sales, friendly with all workers but 1, very familiar with business and answers a lot of questions

they promoted one of these people, i am one of these people.. who do you think they should have promoted?

and why??

I am a woman, and I hate pant-suits...Could I wear a short houndstooth jumper with a suit jacket over it and black tights? Are the ONLY options for "business formal" a pant-suit or skirted suit? I do not even have a skirted suit :o( and the event is tomorrow.
