Please specify if it includes non food supplies or not. Give numbers for both categories if you know that. What city/state are you in? How many in your family and what are the ages? What is your single most money saving tip? (Mine is: buy as little prepackaged and ready made food as possible!)

I have a 401k I converted into an IRA and want to invest it into a mutual fund. What type of tax exposure if any am I exposed to by selling one mutual fund and purchasing another. Does the IRS look at this as a distribution at which they would tax it the same rate or is it exempt from taxes until the time of retirement.

Assume all other things remain the same. Does the amount of principal change? Does the value of the home change to the current value (lower or higher than the previous price for the house)?

I've noticed that a company may have a CEO, President and Chairman and all may be held by different people within a company. They all seem to be important positions. What's the difference between them in regard to duties and things like that?

Just started a new job, and I am thinking about getting health care that allows me to start a HSA (never had a HSA before). Basically is it worth it? My insurance premiums would be cheaper, and I dont expect health costs this year (I am 28 and in good health). Also my employer would contribute $400 if I started and HSA which too me almost is like free money. So are their complaints agaisnt a HSA and if you have one has it for the most part worked out?

John asked Tim the following question. "Who is the person working
in the retail department? I heard that person is a real troublemaker."
Tim answered"I only know of Jane, the office manager."
There are 2 people working in the retail department, Jane and Denise.
Jane has been there for the past 10 years. Denise has been there for only 4 months.
Tim knows Jane is not the trouble maker. Denise is the troublemaker. From John's conversation, it was understood that there are 2 people working in the retail department.

Who was John talking about as the troublemaker? Was it Denise?

I came across this website offering free tax software to prepare your tax return for free. It even claims that you can e-file for free. I've always used TurboTax and paid for the software and to e-file. Has anyone ever used this software? Is there a catch?

My conundrum: I have 2 careers: I teach at a college, and I'm a technical writer in insurance.

My teaching job is emotionally satisfying. The hours rule. I walk away feeling happy. But a full-time teaching job is nearly impossible to get where I live (and I'm not willing to move). Even if I teach 8 classes a term, I'm still considered part-time. There are no benefits. I'm not guaranteed work every semester. The pay sucks, and I don't have an office (I can't work at home).

My technical writer job has a great salary, steady hours, and decent benefits. I have my own cube. And there is room for advancement. But I don't like working in insurance, and I walk away feeling drained. I dread going there.

I left teaching because, in order to pay my bills, I had to teach a ridiculous amount of classes. I got burnt out in just 3 years.

I want to go back to teaching, but I'm afraid of burning out again. I hate my insurance job, but it's a steady paycheck with benefits.

What would you do?

I have a regular job with the regular salary I budget myself on and already received a w2 from my employer.

In 2006, I took some extra retail work throughout the year to supplement my income....for about 1,500, 200, and 400 in each job, so about $2,100 total. Do I need to claim this income since it is in addition to my regular salary, even though combined it is under $3,000?

If I file without them, can I amend my return later? Is this a big process to do so?

Thank you
