On my annual social security report, my income for 6 of the past 19 years were incorrect, significantly lower than they should have been. Are benefits upon retiring based on your average income over your working life, or only based on the last year's income that you worked? Is it worth the hassle to correct what was on the report? Will those errors impact the monthly benefit I receive upon retiring? I think my former employer cooked the books and didn't pay SS taxes - is that why the statement is in error? Can I use my old tax returns to prove that I actually made more money than the statement shows? I have a lot of questions but any answers I receive will be greatly appreciated.

I had a credit account that was dismissed under bankruptcy. My Father and I have the same name. My father's credit has been severely damaged by the confusion of our credit histories. My father has sued the credit card companies for their misreporting. This credit card company is now 3rd party suing me for the amount of the account, saying that it was obtained with his SS number. All info on the account was mine, except for apparently the SS number. If the account has been dismissed, nearly 1 year ago, in bankruptcy court. Can the CC company now come back and sue me for the amount on the account?

I am a full-time features writer and editor (regional and women's magazines) and I love it, (I write a lot about fashion and food - my two favorite topics) but I know business writers make more money. I would like to take some copywriting courses to boost my income. I'm a quick learner and do well with at-home studies. I taught myself to write as a living after having a career as a celebrity makeup artits.

I heard American Writers and Artist Institute is good. The at-home study course is $507. Any advice?

I need suggestions on how to get a clothing store for big and tall women and men started. I live in a town that has no big and tall stores and the nearest one is an hour away. I've talked to many people and they said that if I opened a shop I'd have a lot of business-- and I agree. Any suggestions on how to get going?

I mean is it ok to be late a few times on making payments on something. I mean i always pay my bills on time. Its just that i just got a car from a buy here pay here place. And the car turned out to be a lemon but im still suppose to continue making my payments on it and at first i wasnt going to make anymore payments and then i thought about my credit score. So i guess the best thing to do is just pay it off and learn from it but i dont want to mess up my credit score.

How is mortgage insurance determined? Is it a flat fee, a percent of the sales price, a percent of the mortgage? I know PMI will be applied if a down payment of less than 20% is made, but how is the cost of it determined?

I have gone to some interviews and for some reason they never call back. I'm unemployed trying hard to find a job but i can't. I've gone to job interviews but let me tell ya I'm not the type of person that uses cologne ( i just use armpit deodorants ) or is super clean cut and well combed. My hair is messy cause that's how it is naturally and i don't Gel it, i also sometimes have a messy moustache.

And i don't dress super elegant when i go to interviews. However, i have not gone to places where i they dress that way either. Example: i went to a eye hospital for a filing clerk position so i just put on some nice pants and a sweater. I didn't' look really elegant but i thought it was approp.

I saw the tyra banks show where a girl couldn't get hired and they mentioned Bad breath, and being sloppy and forgetful was why she didn't get the job. I'm that way too, the bad breath is hard to control.. And i'm slow because my mind seems slow and i don't have great vocab

So what to do?

I am 23 and have invested in my company's 401K since age 21. When I signed up for the 401K I decided to put in 3% of my pay, because it said the company will match up to 3%. Does this mean they are putting in 3% and I am putting in 3% also for a total of 6% (I have recently raised it to 5%)? Also, I know I put all of my money into stocks, one high risk, two medium and one low, I have no idea why I picked the ones I did, cause I do not know what all that info means in the packets for them. What is my best option to find out what the good stocks are, and am I doing well by putting it all in stocks? What is the normal % people put into their 401Ks at my age? Thanks...
