Hello,
We have lived in a 197K home for 21/2 yrs on a 5yr.ARM loan (rate 5.625%; 192K left). The house is valued at 216K now and I am just shopping to get a 'fixed' rate. While most offers (via lowermybills.com) included a heavy premium payment, my current lender offered a no closing cost 2 loan option (172K @5.87% and 21k@ 7.5%) which does not reduce my monthly payment at all but there are no 'other fees'. That is for about $200.00 I could have the anxiety of having an ARM off of me!

I guess the closing costs, pre-paids, settlement charges etc are included in the 2nd mortgage and I was urged to pay it off ASAP to reduce the monthly payment significantly!

The Question is- IS this worth it?

Thanks

-Sm

I used my step dad's credit card with his permission. I was in a bad marriage and he helped me get out by letting me use his credit card. I want to pay on it but the credit card company has raised their interest so high that I'm having to choose between feeding my child and paying the minimum payment on this credit card which is $285.00 a month. I am in way over my head I just want to get this debt out of his name. How could I do that with bad credit?

How common is it for a judge to award a closed-end period of disability without a hearing? My relative has an attorney, and is currently waiting for a hearing. It is for a closed-end period of disability (one year totally disabled) and the claimant is now back to work. The attorney says he is going to write to the SSA to try to get a decision without the need for a hearing. I was just wondering if anyone else had a similar situation where they didn't have to have a hearing and were successful. Thank you!

My previous job is very different from the recent jobs that I applied for. I was doing paperwork, and data entry. Honestly, I didn't like my previous job very much. I tried to apply anywhere, and also, I thought about changing the type of job I want to do.

I recently applied for a banquet server position, and interviewed with the office manager 2 days ago. I told her I have no previous experience in serving, but am a quick learner. I'm not sure when she'll be calling me, though. I hope that she will this weekend or within this week.

I have a friend who is a part-time server, and had no previous experience at all when she applied for that job. She had recently talked to her manager about me 3 days ago. But, I have no certainty. I haven't received a call from the manager.

However, I also applied for a retail sales associate position, and I can go tomorrow for training. I was just less motivated when I learned that the salary is $ 7.25 per hr, and it's about 30 mins. away.

I had a debt of $6,000 to a collection agency. Initially, $4,000 was what they said they'd settle for from me. I had setup a payment plan with them- that I would pay them $300 per month with postdated checks. This month, I was not going to be able to pay them that because I had other unforseeable expenses. So I put a stop payment on their check at my bank. Because of this, now the collection agency is saying that now I owe them $6,000 as opposed to the $4,000 that we had agreed upon. Is this legal for them to do? Also, how likely do you think it is that they will sue me for this?

I am from another country and have a great job in USA. My company has an excellent 401 k plan. We will probably be going back home after 10 years or so, so I was wondering whether I should enroll or not. Would I be able to get my hard-earned money if I'm living outside USA? How would it all work?

Just curious, I've bought and sold a couple of times and just wondered how much stuff I might actually need to keep.

one of the mowers credited back to me. Their response is either to blame the credit card company they use or that they are really backed up on "returns." What happened was I ordered a rider to be delivered and charged it on my HD card. Then I learned it would take too long to be delivered. I cancelled the on-line order and called a local HD and ordered it from them. Again, I put that order on my HD card. The first order has never been credited back. So far, both purchases are on a no interest no payment deal, but soon the interest and payments will kick in. Any advice?
