Anyone had this happened to them? Is it normal? I opened my account with them in March 2006 and never paid late. It's my first credit card, even if it's secured, at least it's on all three reports. I was fine until now. At the beginning, I paid the whole balance off, lately I've been keeping some balance (well, quite high). My APR was around 16-17%, no big deal, when my credit is $200. But now, they want to up it to 27.99! For now reason apparently, I called them as letter suggested, to ask for specific reasons. Supposedly, this decision was based on my credit report (which is getting better over time, with more account). The weird person on the phone explained, that after 6 months, they either increase your limit or APR. Huh???

i just turned 5 months preg on sunday. and i had the interview last thursday but did not mention anything about it cause i was afraid that they wouldnt consider me. the job is a receptionist in a big doctors office. im still not quite showing yet but i know that pretty sooon i am going to pop! i am just afraid to tell them!!! i dont want to get fired cause of this! but i know they arent allowed to fire me because im pregnant, but the thing is that im going to be in the 3 months probation or the 30 days thing... so she can just fire me for any little thing.. and i mean i want to continue in this job after my pregnancy! this job offers great opportunities!!! SO PLEASE GIVE ME A SUGGESTION ON HOW TO TELL HER AND WHEN WOULD BE THE RIGHT TIME!!also i was told from quite a few people not to say anything in the interview... and the person that helped me get this job told me not to discuss it in the interview because im not supposed to say anything personal and they arent supposed to ask me.

My brother is thinking about getting an interest only loan and paying interest only and using the rest to invest in a roth ira. Is this a good idea? His payment on his house is $1200 per month and he is hopning to cut it to $600 per month, giving him $600 per month to invest. What are the pros and cons?

I dont really understand how any money market or CD's can be considered a "safe investment" when for example, a Money Market which has a apy of 4.5% has to FIRST be adjusted to the average inflation rate of 3% which leaves you 1.5% that you are REALLY getting , then after that you get TAXED which must be at least another 1% of your investment, that leaves you with 0.5% which is HORRIBLE. Can anyone explain why you would not AT LEAST invest in GOLD (inflation protected , possibly tax sheltered) or I-Bonds (inflation protected, state tax sheltered definetely)...Why would any invest in anything else but these two methods? It seems stupid to invest in anything else

If you know any other "safe investments" that have a decent return after INFLATION and TAXES have been taken out please let know, or If I have made any mistakes in my rant.

My family's health insurance is issued through my husband's employer. They recently changed our insurance from blue cross to united healthcare beginning Nov. 1. We still have no cards. When I try to print the temp. cards from the website I get an error. I called my husband's employer and the human resource director told me to not go to the dr. and don't have any perscriptions filled until we get the cards because the insurance is bad about reimbursing. I called the insurance company and they couldn't give me any info--they said I had to have my card before they could help me! I'm so ticked off right now and I have 2 drs. appts tomorrow that I simply can't cancel. My question is--is this legal? Isn't there some time frame in which they have to give us the cards?

Thanks in advance!

Ok, so I just made PTF, I'm looking through all the different health care plans and I feel like I'm trying to learn a new language. I'm a single 25 year old with no health problems so far but I do a lot of risky activities (ie..snowboard,ATVs,etc....) I don't mind paying a little higher monthly premium to insure I wouldn't pay a fortune out of pocket if I broke a leg or something but I'm having a hard time figuring out which is the best "all round" plan. If anyone out there has worked out all the details or had a good or bad experience with these plans, let me know what you would pick. Thanks for the help.

I work as a cashier for a well-known supermarket chain here on Long Island. I got a new job in Manhattan which will pay me more. Problem is, my current job has me scheduled to work in the mornings, and I am scheduled to work next week at this job.

I was told that if I don't come in, that I will be fired and banned from ever working there forever. Ever since the new manager was hired, there have been problems. Some of the staff have complained about the way she runs the Front End.

I moved to Brooklyn for a month, and then asked to come back. I had got suspended because a customer stole $180.00 worth of groceries. I got blamed for it, even though I didn't do it.

She said that my life should be centered around my job, and that she won't let me quit. I wasn't expecting to get my new job. This all happened with in a period of 2 days.

They also cut my hours and I am barely surviving. I'm living from paycheck to paycheck right now.

What should I do?

Okay. My last day at my job is this Thursday, and soon I will be a stay at home mom (in a couple of months). We're also moving this weekend for my husband's job. We're in the process of selling our house. Once we do, we'll have a lot more money each month to put into savings.

In any case, I'm trying to think of ways we can think frugally and spend as little as possible. Granted, I should have been doing this all along. We did put most of my money into savings or onto debt, but we could have been a little more aggressive. Anyway here we are - can you guys think of any ways to cut back?

So far I've:
1) Contacted the insurance co. about raising our deductible to $1000, and let them know we're moving (this will hopefully bring our cost down, since it brought it up when we moved here) and that I'll be at home.
2)We've cut our cell phone - only landline.
3)no cable (we never had this).
4) Moved our grocery bill to $200 - too high? Reasonable?
What are some other ways you stay at home moms cut back?
