A couple will report approximately $40,000 in income for 2006 (per W-2s). The husband also gets paid in cash from his employer totalling $60,000 for the year. He wants to report this income so as not to raise a red flag with the IRS. He feels that his expenses (ie mortgage interest, taxes) reflect that of a person with alot more than $40,000 of income. Would he report this extra income on Sch C.? Would it be subject to self-employment tax even though he is not self-employed? Could it be reported as income not subject to S/E tax? He does not want to report his employer.
Any advice would be appreciated, from knowledgable tax preparers only, please. Thank you.

I have heard that the Managers are not happy, there is a lot of employee/manager turnover, HR Managers are not of high caliber, pay is not very good compared to similar companies. I am not asking this to malign the company but I am seeking some honest answers. We all know that the Top management is the most respected in India. I want an insider view - from the employee point of view.

I work at a hotel (this is my one year anniversary) and trusted this frequent guest who told his friend he could get a cheap room under his name. He did. I only got the frequent guest's credit card over the phone to guarantee the reservation and his friend was to pay cash at check-out. Well, he didn't but he did leave. I think he was responsible for his friend so I charged the frequent guest's credit card. Do you think it could be disputed and won on his behalf? Do you think I should still work here?

OK we need to recycle more thats been agreed BUT why do the Government go for this microchip weighing of rubbish? why not do a local competition where the people who've recylced the most get a reward ? Like if you recycle 80% of your domestic waste you get a 10% rebate on your council tax and if your don't meet that target you pay the full amount? Just a thought as this spy in the bins and individual billing per kilo will just lead to more fly tipping in my view.

How much is worth it to do house "rentals"?
What makes it worth it to do house rentals as a side business? I heard of someone that makes $300 / month for having a "few" rentals and to me that is $100 or less a month on each rental. Not worth it considering everything you have to repair and watch out for... So what makes it worth it? a certain % of the rent/mortgage ratio or $$ amount.

Have you done rentals with luck? Or was it a bad decision?
