you make it up..technically you can get away with any reasonable amount...just estimate how much the pacakaging will cost then add on a handling fee of whatever you wish!

Figure a reasonable hourly income for this type of work. Say $8 to $10 an hour. Then, how long does it actually take you?

Your expenses should be easy - out of pocket cost for the box. If you figure the government allowance for mileage you will price yourself out of competition.

If you are shipping one box at a time it is a lot more expensive than a bulk run to the PO.

I personally dislike high handling/freight charges. I watch these carefully on e-bay.

It's really quite variable and dependent upon your individual situation. If you feel the need to make it as fair as possible, I would suggest a simple rule of deduction. How much does your time cost per hour? How much does it cost to travel (gas prices/maintenance of vehicle)? How much do materials cost?

For example, if gas is $3 per gallon, cost of material is deduced to $1, and your hourly pay is $20, and it took you a total of 30 minutes to complete handling and a travel distance of 2 miles, then deduce the cost of gas for 2 miles and add that to the $1 material cost. An hourly pay of $20 would result in a $10 cost for time since it took 30 minutes to complete handling. Add these together and you have your handling charge.
