My previous job is very different from the recent jobs that I applied for. I was doing paperwork, and data entry. Honestly, I didn't like my previous job very much. I tried to apply anywhere, and also, I thought about changing the type of job I want to do.

I recently applied for a banquet server position, and interviewed with the office manager 2 days ago. I told her I have no previous experience in serving, but am a quick learner. I'm not sure when she'll be calling me, though. I hope that she will this weekend or within this week.

I have a friend who is a part-time server, and had no previous experience at all when she applied for that job. She had recently talked to her manager about me 3 days ago. But, I have no certainty. I haven't received a call from the manager.

However, I also applied for a retail sales associate position, and I can go tomorrow for training. I was just less motivated when I learned that the salary is $ 7.25 per hr, and it's about 30 mins. away.

I'm an Operations Manager running a fleet of semi's hauling Agg. materials but this job didn't come easy. I drove big rigs for 14 plus years knowing where I wanted to be and that was in management. The way I did this was to build a reputation and it was with my driving record. Now, It's pretty impressive to see a big rig drivers driving record of 14 years without any tickets, accidents or citations and my last two management opportunities actually came to me with all the proof that they knew I'd ask.My pay scale jumped from $46,000.00 to $75,000.00 Here's my point....the best way to sell your self is to build a reputation for your self, know where you want to go ahead of time and don't be afraid of putting in your dues! (starting from the bottom) My nephew whom I've been raising for the last 6 years( his Dad died ) got his first job last year and flat out quit because he thought he shouldn't work weekends? even though there were employee's that have been there for several years,..Don't do that! When you do interview, look at the interviewer right in the eye's, keep your hands still on the desk but don't cross them and NO foot tapping or bobbing. I do the hiring and firing for my company and these are the first things I look for, if you get pass this, you have a chance. Confidence, a positive attitude and body language is what sells! and being able to fall back on what you have built for yourself, showing the Interviewer that you not only can do the job but want to as well and be able to put your name on it when it's done. When you can look back at a job and say..."I did that"! no matter if it's busing tables or sending a rocket to the moon, you have to do your best, every day and THAT'S! how to sell yourself. One more thing that I think is very important in life it's self and that is....There's honor in any kind of work wether it's $7.00 an hour or $70.00 an hour, there's more pride in that then sucking up the Wellfair that someone else that really needs. Hold your head up, smile and good luck to you! :)

Use the HR consultant for expertise earlier than you are available. And do not spend greater than three mins digging up this expertise, or the HR Rep could discover you worrying. Find out what the hiring managers scorching buttons are and their interview type. Learn what on your qualifications are bringing you in for an interview. Ask what the suitable get dressed is. Start the interview off via pronouncing "I spoke with the Rep in HR they usually defined this function for me. I'd love to comprehend out of your factor of view what the function is all approximately". Most interviewers love to increase on their advantage, so this may deliver you an suitable period of time to get a suppose for them and comprehend what's main to them. Do your study at the organization. If you have a tendency to freeze up in interviews, after they ask you what you already know approximately the organization, simply inform them "commonly what I learn on the net" remark on some thing that inspired you and depart it at that. Take a while this week to study Behavior Based Interviewing, C.I.D.S. (Top Grading), StAR (an extra variety of interview), Stress Based Interviewing and whatever else you'll be able to discover, so it doesn't matter what path they take with you, you'll comprehend what the final result is. Be certain to deliver nice examples that use metrics (Dollars stored, percent broaden, and many others.). Don't ramble - that is why I have a tendency to rule out so much applicants because it takes me to lengthy to comprehend the factor. Maintain eye touch a minimum of seventy five% of the time. Looking across the room is ordinary, simply are not making it a interest. Be sincere. There is plenty of hooey available in the market approximately hiding your weaknesses. Mine are that I am cussed and quite of a manipulate freak. I inform the interviewers this, after they ask, (with slightly of humor) however my weak point used to be viewed a force at my present process. You will certainly not be dominated out for admitting a weak point, however you will be dominated out for averting the query. They most of the time desire to know the way self mindful you're besides, no longer what's unhealthy approximately you. They might also desire to know the way you compensate, that is a healthful factor to percentage even though they do not ask. At the tip of the interview, ask the interviewer in which you stand (you are no longer possibly to get a protracted reaction, however for those who do GREAT). Ask them if there may be any field they suppose that you simply did not give an explanation for good adequate. If you're interested within the process, TELL THEM! Send a brief e mail inside a couple of days inform them you "Appreciate assembly them" (you do not have got to thank them, as it is their process to interview you) and inform them why you're an asset to their industry. If you get grew to become down once more, ask for his or her complete sincere reasoning of why they did not opt for you. If it used to be some thing you'll be able to difference or manage larger at some point, do it. Good Luck!

Remember experience is just that, something you can use/take with you where ever you go. Even if you start that job and decide not to continue with it, look elsewhere. Indicate on the job application that it was a position with no advancement possibilities.
