Tattoos - June 2007

I am a 45 year old professional, and visible tattoos are not acceptable in my job. I have been thinking of getting one to show some support for my son who has many, but has always thought I was very opposed to them. Even a UV one would show him I accept him and his tattoos!
Are they very expensive? Do they last a long time? I want it to be meaningful...any suggestions?

I want to get my first tattoo. The tattoo I want is a barb-wire band around my bicept with the letters NYC in between it. But the question is, how bad does it hurt. Is it excrusiatingly painful? If you have recieved a tattoo in this area please give me some advice.

besides removing or covering up a tattoo... does anyone know of something that can fade away the tattoo? or if not does anyone know a really good makeup that covers it up? I tried the kind they have at the cosmetics counter at the mall..... it does not work... anyone?

I'm racking my brains trying to remember who did the tattoo. Might have been Chris Garver. It was on a woman and it was of coloured flowers on her ankle that represented her children. Me and my sister have a very close bond together and have decided that when she turns 18 that we will get a tattoo together to symbolize our bond and that no matter what happens in her life or mine that we will be there to take of each other, but we need some ideas of what to get so if any one has some ideas please let me know.

I am planning on getting a small tattoo of "Always." in cursive on my ankle with a small heart outlined in black, filled in with red on my left inner ankle. The word would be black and the tattoo would be very small....no larger than a could of inches. So i have been thinking long and hard about getting a tattoo and i have come to the conclusion that i am going to get one. My biggest worry is the cleanliness. I dont understand what has to be autoclaved and what doesnt. My friend is gone to the place i THINK i want to go to. Her tattoos a nice, and she said they opened the needles up right in front of her which eases my mind a little. If they use new sterile needles on each client does that mean they dont need to autoclave anything? Is the needle the most important thing that needs to be sterile?? She also said they use disposible cups for the ink, so that means that should be clean right??? The have an internet site www.uptownink.net please feel free to check it out and give me your need back. I went to the sop Friday and it was very plain jane but looked clean. I couldnt see much becaues they have private rooms.

I just got my lower back tattooed 3 days ago, and its really sore and stings when I get a shower.. Also when i pat it dry, i see alittle bit of black ink on the towel..IS this normal?? When will it heal?

I have a butterfly tattooed on my lower middle back, it has some color in it (blues, yellows, pinks, greens, purples), but it's kinda faded. I'm Italian and want to have the colors of the Italian flag done over those...is this possible? I've heard white doesn't show up anyways, much less over already done colors? Any help would be greatly appreciated...
