I have a series of flowers tattoed on the top of my right foot that is in a "flip-flop thong" shape, but it covers the majority of the top of my foot. I also have 2 kids, a tongue piercing, another smaller tat on my right shoulder, and a vertical clit hood piercing...I used to have my nipples pierced as well. THE TOP OF THE FOOT TAT HURT THE WORST OF ALL OF THESE THINGS, except childbirth, however it didn't last very long, and I would definitely do it again in a heartbeat!!! I have had a ton of compliments on it, infact in the summer when I am wearing sandals everywhere, hardly a day goes by that someone doesn't stop me and admire it! One important fact about foot tattoos is that you can't wear shoes or socks or any other foot covering over the new tat until it's completely healed (it will fade)! I heal really fast, and it took my foot about 5 weeks to heal. It also swelled up for a couple of days, however it didn't hurt bad after he was finished with the needlework. You also need to consider that a new tattoo shouldn't be submurged in water until it is healed, or the ink can fade. I would also consider that you will need pretty regular touch-ups, as well, as this area is constantly rubbed by shoes (unless you wear open-top shoes and no socks year round). I haven't needed a touch up yet, but I'm figuring about every 5 years or so (it's been a year). OK, I know I'm answering more than you asked, but I get really pumped up about my tattoo, and I did a TON of research on foot tattoos before I got mine, and I just like to pass the info along to anyone who it may help to decide to take the plunge!! Overall, the positive definitely outweighs the negative in my opinion!!
