I moved to the desert about 6 months ago from a sub-tropical location and my hair is now very dry and brittle. My split-ends literally have split-ends! My hair also splits mid-shaft. My hair is quite long and I shampoo/condition daily (if I don't shampoo my roots look like they have been dipped in Crisco.) However, I only apply shampoo to my scalp. I only use a curling iron once a week and I only blow-dry my hair after it has air-dryed to about 75% dry. I use a leave-in conditioner and have tried numerous moisturizing shampoos and treatments including: Infusium 23, Burt's Bees Avocado treatment, Nexxus Humectress, Aussie 3 minute miracle, Aussie leave-in conditioner, Sebastian Raw Silk, V-O5 Hot Oil treatments and HaarKur from Germany. Nothing seems to help. Any advice from those of you living in the desert?
I also have my hair trimmed regularly. I am about ready to "pull a Britney!'
