It's both breakage and actual hair loss.

It isn't so much the dying (unless you do it literally ALL the time) but it's the length of hair that is promoting hair loss. Longer the hair, harder it is for your scalp to keep it in. But this hair loss could also be due to your diet, lack of exercise, not enough vitamins / minerals, stress, etc.

STOP DYING YOUR HAIR!!! I am 34 and have been dying my hair since I was 18. I stopped due to hair loss 2 yrs ago and now I seriously regret the damage I have done. When I was younger my grandma told me I was doing serious damage to my hair with all of those chemicals, but I thought by the time my hair fell out I'd be old and would just slap on a wig. But now I'm in my 30's and losing my hairline on the sides. Harsh chemicals can cause irreparable damage to hair follicles at the roots and the hair will never come back. If you have breakage, take care of it now and please stop dying it. Once it's gone, it's gone. Unless you wanna go on a steady diet of Monoxydil.

is it hair loss or hair breakage? to figure out which, look at the hairs after they fall out. if there are roots attatched, then the hair is falling out which is most likely NOT from coloring your hair. if it looks like it's breakage, then it could definitely be from overprocessing. if it's actual hair loss, it can be explained by lots of things: changes in diet/health, stress, medications, certain disorders, age, and heredity. for hair breakage, start doing some deep conditioning. s-factor by tigi makes a really good hair mask.

Yes. Everyone sheds hair. And because you've dyed your hair a lot, it's probably damaged and dead on the ends, which may contribute to it falling out more than usual.
Try using conditioning masks weekly to keep your hair healthy. Use a good conditioning, restoring shampoo and conditioner, and try not to straighten and blow dry your hair as much. If you have to, use a heat protection spray.
You can also take some vitamins to keep your hair healthy. Fish oil is basic and good for everything. Ask a naturopath to recommend something.

Its normal to lose about 100 hairs a day. But if you have long hair, even 20 hairs can look like 50! So you may be worrying for nothing.

And yup, hair dye can cause hair loss.....especially bleach or black.
