I wonder, if we had memories from the time we weren't born yet, would we want to go back to that time, to that state of not being conscious about ourselves, about suffering and all that? What do you think. If yes, give me arguments.

if you can see behind the shroud
if you can cut right to the chase
if you know not only what but why
then you know who really runs this place.

is insight something you acquire, like knowledge, or something you already have in you, like wisdom? how does one become 'insightful'?

Let alone the entire internet and all its computers. Im talking really really basic consciousness here.

Even a tiny little baby mouse has a consciousness. Imagine a large supercomputer, perhaps even a PC? I do not necessarily mean self-awareness, just conscious awareness.

From Plato, to Descartes, and even Ayn Rand, many philosophers have championed the power of reason as the primary conduit of human knowledge. What is your definition of "reason?"

If so, does the dream just end there and you wake up?
Is it possible to die in your dream and carry on dreaming or would that almost be like telling the secret of what death is like?

I had this conversation with a friend of mine. We both agreed that we wanted to be the kid from Robocop 2. Great minds think alike. I briefly wanted to be the kid that could talk to dolphins from Sea Quest DSV. Who did you want to be as a kid, or even who do you want to be now, and why.

Okay this is my friends theory, and if you really think about it, it could be true.

He says that color blinded people could actually be seeing right and that people who think they see right may be wrong.

He is colored blind to a point of he mixes up colors like pastel pinks and blues. Reds and purples and so on. The other day he said "look at that pink car" well it was actually blue and I replied "It's blue" Then he stated, how do you know? Maybe I see right and you see wrong. It got me thinking, Maybe that is true but since so many people aren't colored blind we think we see right and they see wrong. But what if God only made a few people who could see right, AKA people who are colored blind?

What do you think?

Is this something we all need? I seem to be trapped in a world of just complete confusion, I keep having dreams that are pointing me in the direction of "Obtaining a purpose".

Please speak from experience, rather than theory--or what I mean is theorize on your experience. Also, pure theory is more than welcome, as well; this IS the philosophy section.
I put my question here (as opposed to family and relationships, etc.), because I've grown accustomed to quality thinking here. And, of course, I really want to know your answers. Really....

Note: Tennyson was speaking of death. That's not the sense in which I'm asking, although, it's also valid, of course. I'm thinking about the loss, by rejection, of a lover, partner. But you answer as you're so inspired....

Whenever I talk to women (at work or elsewhere) - they hardly ever give me any eye contact. Yet the same woman would talk to another woman with eye contact?

Im friendly and I smile a lot. I am approachable too. Ive been told Im pretty several times (only by people who know me).

So why do most women avoid eye contact when talking to me? Does this happen to you?

A friend of mine recently got to thinking about the world and simply wrote this:

"It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination.

So, you do not exist."

Is this true? And if so, what does it mean about us? About our friends? Family? What are your opinions on this?
