There is no alternative.
What are you going to do? NOT trust your thoughts? You cannot build a life upon that... you cannot even perform any actions on that basis.
You assume your thoughts and memory are accurate until proven otherwise because there is simply no other way to do ANYTHING.

Well, out brain seems more than something that was put together by "chance" Our brain is very powerful, we just only use about 15% of it on average. So, why wouldnt you trust your own thoughts? your in control of them (most of the time) your brain dictates what you do, under your command, if you want to lift a finger or pick something up. I ont really get why you wouldnt trust your own thoughts, unless you've had a traumatizing experience or something emotional is causing your brain to act on its own without your approval.

Because we are NOT our thoughts, feelings, chemistry, impulses. We are the OBSERVER of our thought-system, compulsions etc.
Our primal (reptilian/animal) brain developed for processing external data for survival but because of our advanced human brain capacity we often develop very messy irrational belief and thought systems during childhood that thereafter control our perception of reality. This happens if we experience a lot of threat before our ability to reason can discern what to do about it. It gets internalized into a thought-system that becomes our ego identity. Although a tedious process, dumping the program will allow us to trust our perceptions as adults and master our experience of reality. It allows us to reboot.

Truth is that we can't. How many times in your life have you been absolutely POSITIVE you were right about something... and it turned out you were wrong? If your answer is less than 100, you are either lying or wrong, yet again. The brain is not a perfect organ. That is why it is so important to take things in context and to verify everything.

You can't trust your own thoughts to be correct for anyone but you. Surely yo have experienced situations where almost everyone disagreed with your ideas or opinions. I certainly have. More than I like to think about.

You don't have any thoughts of your own. Everything you know and believe was programmed by your parents and culture. The brain is a computer using the stored data to respond to needs. You are incapable of forming any original 'new' thought as everything you use to do so is the stored memory of your conditioned knowledge. You and you know yourself are only the imagined sum of your collected memories. When your memory goes, so do you as an entity but your living organism continues to function and survive just fine with out it.

i think your question is not that coherent. your premise that our brain is a bunch of chemicals put together by chance is wrong.
how can you be sure that your brain was put together by chance?

you are the only immediate enterprater your brain knows. you enterprate what you generate. (your thoughts) even though you may not be able to express it well, your eyes (your mind's eye) let you see what you may not have enough vocabulary to comunicate. the brain is the most complexed organ to mankind. we could ask unanswered questions for years. hope my answer helped you.
