Let alone the entire internet and all its computers. Im talking really really basic consciousness here.
Even a tiny little baby mouse has a consciousness. Imagine a large supercomputer, perhaps even a PC? I do not necessarily mean self-awareness, just conscious awareness.

I often feel that my computer feels satisfied when it completes its downloads and when it is in active use i sense it has a need to serve its user.
For example, i felt a small impulse (like a release of tension) when studying, and then i looked at the computer and saw that a download had just completed...

I seriously doubt computers of today have the capacity for conscious thought. However, its folly to think that its impossible. You could construct a computer modeled after the human brain. If you made an exact replica of a human brain using circuit boards and microchips, it would behave in exactly the same way. It would think like we think, process information in the same way our brains do.
However, this artificial brain would lack the ability to adapt to its environment, to form new connections-to learn.

You are assuming that a baby mouse has a 'consciousness' because you were taught to assume that. You are a computer and nothing more. Your DNA are your operating instructions, brain and sense organs hardware and senses software. Thought is merely data coming in and out based on what network you are in. How are you conscious? What are you aware of other than what you have been given the knowledge to be aware of? You can not know what you don't know and everything you know was told to you.

hi there. I did an essay about 15 years in the past on separateness of Society and the recent technologies of the twentieth century, and the era of time before there replaced into instantaneous thoughts. all time before 1850 vs 1850 til the prevailing. instantaneous thoughts, is because the time period implies. thoughts given slowly, has no longer enhanced the human issue and has created an similar complications that we had contained in the previous bearing on to disinformation. So we are nevertheless component of the completed photo. i imagine extra damage can come speedier with instantaneous thoughts. It fairly has no longer replaced human beings in a large way for the betterment of Society.

I suppose the soul of the computer would be it's program or algorithm and there are such algorithm's designed for self awareness (e.g. Artificial Intelligence). This is very possible and most likely inevitable.

Not yet. But the thought of that is disturbing. It occurs to me that we ourselves may be machines created by a long gone society to whose end we humans were contributors.
Will humans in turn be replaced by intelligent machines?
Now doesn't consciousness imply self-awareness?

actually, if statues and inanimate objects can be posessed, can't computers be too? and the answer to that is YES.
i think its easier and more accepted by the living for a dead spirit to posess a pc, than it is for them to posess a chair or broom
