Just looking for funny stories here. What's the worst outfit you've ever seen someone wear to an audition? Please specify film, theatre or dance.

I'd really appreciate some stories to share with my class.

Thank you!

I'm looking to increase my speed and I read that playing while having your thumb over the neck doesn't help at all. I read that you should instead use "a light touch" in handling the guitar when attempting to play quickly. Can anyone explain what this position should look like?

From memory the idea is that prior to the performance, the dancer is as if struck by lightning, and all emotions and traces of humanity are burned from them. Thus purged, the performer can begin. I’m trying to learn more about it, but without a tag it’s tough. Thanks!

How do you contact agents for singing/acting? They seem to be impossible to find.

I ride a unicycle and dabble in magic, clowning and play Santa Claus. Most people I know never recognize me when in costume or makeup and not even my kids know me as Santa to this day. My daughter almost figured it out (and may have by now) when I visited their school when she was younger and she said to me, " Dad, that Santa that came to our school today looked just like you." Not waiting to give away the "secret" I quickly said, "well...Santa always looks like someone you love."

I love to sing and anyone that has heard me sing says that I am really good but I'm not sure if I am as good as they say I am. At the end of the year my school is having this talent show and I am wanting to sing in it to show some people that I am not that shy and show them my singing abilities. But what if I mess up or make a fool out of myself? Should I be in the talent show?

I'm in a band, and I'm new to performing arts in general, and I've always known that there would be friction between bandmates, and that you CANNOT let this go public, nor project any irrational anger onto them.

However, in practice I'm finding it difficult to implement this.

Any advice on how to vent, when to vent, where to vent, so that it's constructive? I realize sometimes I may be misperceiving things going against me, and that I need to be more patient. Sometimes, though, I just want to let it all out somehow.

Thanks!

so let's say you're in an agency and you get photo shoots. what else would you have to do be in the "real" modeling business? do you have to wait for someone to ask for you? or you offer your portfolio like a sort of audition?

any info about it would be of much help. thanks =)

My school has a celebration called May Festivel (simialr to homecoming) and its tradition to have a May Festivel Talent Competition. I have a pretty big voice but i am an alto and its hard for me to find songs that can show my power but not exceed my range. Does anybody have an suggestions as to what to perform, how to perform, and how to stand out against kids much older (and probably better) than me. Thank you so much, your help is greatly appreciated..

p.s. I am in 9th grade and I am competeting against all grades up to 12th.

p.s.s I need songs appropriate for little kids and parents!!

thx

I've been learning to play the violin for 6 years, and passed all (< grade 6) practical ABRSM exams with distinction. Is it good enough, or what else should I do?
