What’s the name of that obscure zombie-esque Japanese(?) dance/drama discipline?

From memory the idea is that prior to the performance, the dancer is as if struck by lightning, and all emotions and traces of humanity are burned from them. Thus purged, the performer can begin. I’m trying to learn more about it, but without a tag it’s tough. Thanks!
