Call the school and find out what the entrance requirements are. Typically they will require two songs in contrasting styles (probably ideally one in another language) and also solfege (sight reading of music using the do system. do -re -mi-fa so la etc.. or perhaps even chromatic solfege..) so it is a good idea to call and ask what they will want.
You should definately take voice lessons, you can work on your repitoire and also on the more difficult aspects of technique. Find a teacher who is willing to work with you to your specific goals and who understands what you are looking to get. Shop around to find one who is right for you.
Practice practice practice! If you are going to be majoring in music but especially if you are focusing on performance, you will be taking lessons throughout college and will also be practicing all the time, so better to get adjusted to it now then get surprised in college!

Yes, lessons helped me a lot but gradually. Sometimes we cant see our mistakes and it helps a lot when someone experienced in singing helps coach you. I've been taking lessons for 4 years now and my voice has grown tremendously. It's still not perfect I'm sure, but it's volume and range have increased by at LEAST 100% since when i started out. I'm 17 and i started when I was 13. It helps if you maybe record yourself singing then after a few months or years, you sing the same thing again and see how you've changed. It takes time though, and you can't rush some things like your voice's maturity and such. So good luck! :D

To learn how to sing the best thing is always following a good course, I suggest an online course because it's much cheaper and you can get great results. I suggest this course: http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=541
Hoowever there are several key things to do to improve your singing voice, yet some rely on upon your gender and some don't. Since I don't have a clue about your gender, I'll let you know the ones that are not gender particular. I'll give you some suggestions but I reccomend to follow the course that I posted above...I did it and I know you will apprecciate it! Learn to breathe from your diaphragm, not your lungs. - most straightforward route for a beinging voice understudy to learn this strategy is to lie level on your back and breathe without considering it. You ought to perceive that it is your stomach climbing and down, not your lungs. Congrats, you've spotted your diaphragm. Presently remained up and practice breathing through your nose and pushing the air into your stomach rather than your lungs. Practice breath/breathing strategies
When you've figured out how to breathe with your diaphragm, you have to show yourself how to work those muscles in a manner that will improve your singing vocals. This is accomplished by something many refer to as breath exercises. Fundamentally, you use five to ten minutes doing these before endeavoring to sing. Here are some to kick you off: "the pregnant woman puff" is where you utilize the labor breathing method taught in lamas' classes to work your mouth muscles. "the straw" is where you suck in all the air you can oversee and afterward gradually release it again on your own pace while switching up the variations of the breath release. For a better work out in this exercise you can really sing a few bars of a tune also. good luck!

One of the most important aspects of singing well involves correct breathing. Now you would think that we would already do this correctly. Try a site like https://tr.im/5VVED which has the best vocal exercises
After all if we couldn't breathe we wouldn't be alive! But in reality many people have bad breathing habits caused by a variety of things including poor posture and our often frantic lifestyles. Learning how to control your breathing is one of the keys to improving your voice.
Singing requires that you are able to take in enough air quickly before you are about to sing a line and then let this air out in a regular and controlled way whilst singing the notes. The mistake many novice singers do is to take a quick shallow gasp of air into the top of the lungs. This results in there being insufficient air, to get you through the line you are singing, and you will end up dropping notes. I'm sure you can relate to this experience and can remember times when you have had to quickly take in more air half way through the line or note you are singing.

Nowadays you can learn how to sing over the internet. You can check out the best singing video lessons here: https://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=541
The videos are very easy to follow and to my surprise extremely helpful even for advanced singers. For beginners I would have to say this is a gold mine. I was able to improve my singing, voice tone and range in just under two weeks and I am an advanced musician...
I wanted to go to a singing teacher but that would have cost me over 1500 bucks .... every month!
Following a course online is much cheaper!

Absolutely go for the voice lessons. Don't be afraid to try out a few different teachers as well. Make sure you find the one you know will help you the most and make you feel comfortable about his or her background in music. Make sure the teacher plays piano very well!
Build up your personal repetoire to include several styles of songs and try to include a classical song in a different language if you can. Some programs require that. Find out for sure what this program will require of you so that your teacher can help you prepare. Good luck!

Most people believe that once they are diagnosed with some vision problem and start wearing eye glasses or contact lenses to correct them, they will have to do so for life in order to see better. Those who want a permanent solution to improve eyesight typically resort to Lasik or other corrective eye surgeries. But you you can also improve your vision without surgery and can see perfectly well without using eyeglasses or contact lenses. You can check here to know how https://tr.im/73ed3
