For the first time in my life, I saw Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" last night and it was awesome. I do have some questions regarding the opera itself as well as opera singers.

1. Why is the part of Cherubino played by a young female? My guess is that the character itself is a young, teenage guy and the voice of a young woman would suit the character's changing voice tone.

2. Do opera singers work with one opera for the entire season or do they work on multiple operas for the season?

3. How do opera singers get work? Are there auditions? Does being an opera singer guarantee any benefits (i.e. medical, dental, etc)?

Thanks for the help.

I recently got a huge Beethoven piano book, called "Best of Beethoven." I've already learned the "Moonlight Sonata," "Fur Elise," and "Sonata Pathetique." Any suggestions for my next venture in that book?

I made some alterations based on what people said. Do you guys have any more advice for me?

The new one is the second recording, titled "In the End II"

I really appreciate any advice guys, I really want to make it better and I'm too shy to show it to people I really know. Thanks :)

I want to develop a nice vibrato (you know, those quick fluctuations in tone at the end of a word or phrase, sometimes lasting a while , in opera for example.) Are there any special exercises or anything? I can acheive a slight vibrato when I sing at high pitches, but I'm a male so I want to sing at lower, more normal pitches.

Ok well basically around about october i got spotted by this agent, she offered to represent me, i checked her out she seemed professional and all that jazz. We've been trying to get me onto spotlight, all the forms i've filled in have suddenly disappeared and i've had to start from scratch and am now on the main application form. Problem is i am worried i don't have enough experience to get on and have had no drama training apart from a GNVQ in performing arts and am currently studying for an A-level in drama and theatre studies. I was planning on going to australia for a year out around september but i really want a shot at trying out for acting, but then i also want to go to university and my want for acting would require me to stay in london and try my luck. I basically don't know whether to tell my agent that its not worth going on spotlight because there isn't enough time or to just drop everything, can someone please help?, i feel so lost.

My singer/music teacher say i have a great voice, but i need to be brighter because i sing to dark.

My sinning teacher said that in Italian, theres these words that stands for light and dark (this is to do with sinning). To achieve a good voice you must have equal balance, too dark sounds boring, too light sounds screechy.

She said that i still a little too dark, but i don't know how to be in between dark and light.

Can anyone teach me how?
