a guitar is like a longbow, but more like a tropical fruit and an oar.
a violin is like a serving tray, but somewhat like a frying pan with a TV remote hot glued to it.

A guitar is a larger instrument with plucked or stroked strings that are heavier and longer so the overall sound is deeper. Acoustic guitars are usually flat topped.
Violins are intended to be bowed (vibrated with a roughened string) for a singing sound and are rarely plucked. The strings are gut or nylon and are shorter and lighter than a guitar and therefore higher in pitch. The body is carved to an arch to provide extra resonance.
