I don't know 4 sure cause the holes to dang big

You're either referring to the steel fret bars or the white or abalone guide dots and designs. If you're referring to the dots or special blocks that are on the fretboard, sometimes starting in the third fret, they are simply guides to allow the player to quickly find chord and note placement.

Some fretboards will have two-double dots; one in the seventh fret and the other in the 12th fret.

Classical guitars, on the other hand, do not have these guide dots.

I agree that you are most likely referring to the frets. If it is not the frets though, I know some styles of guitars place a rectangular inlay into the fret board in lieu of dots. Good luck.
