If you know of a new series on the market now or coming before Christmas, that would be great. I'm familiar with older series and books.

If this is true, is this saying authors who write fantasy know about fantasy. Those who write about heavenly life forms know them as well. It makes sense to me to write about what feels good to you.

Here is the beginning of a story I'm writing (I know, it's short, but I just started):

Salina stealthily crept through the damp woods, her bare feet scarcely making a sound on the muddy ground. Her tattered brown cloak offered no protection from the cold gusts of autumn wind, and clearly had spots in need of re-stitching. She pulled the thinning hood over her head again, but the strong wind tossed it backed again. Her straight brown hair, soaked to the skin by the relentless downpour, flew off her shoulders and seemed to dance around in the wind.

up down. up down. My chest was thumping rather rapidly, and i was beggining to hyperventalate. up down. up down. from underneath the blanket, i could see tiny rays of light peeking through. Out side a world of fear and panic. Up down. up down. We were dogging trees right and left, right and left. and there were branches every where. up down up down. i finally muster up the courage to lift the blanket off my head, and though i want to cover my self up my hands move involuntarily. up down. up down. i feel something on my face. and as i divert my eyes praying that it is a leaf, my heart sinks and i let out a scream i'm pretty sure people heard in Maine as i realize what it is. up down. up down.

That night I was just as restless as I had been earlier that day. I sighed and sat up, thinking that it was kind of hopeless that I could get any kind of sleep now. I glanced over to Jake and Kinsie, still sprawled out where they had been before when I started to drift off to sleep, and grinned. I shook my head, then got up as quietly as I could to put my shoes on. Might as well go get a breath of fresh air, I told myself, since I was still in my clothes. I slipped out the back door and made my way down to the pond and little waterfall that was to one side of the back yard.
I must have sat there for an hour or so before Jake came waltzing up behind me so quietly I didn’t even notice him until he spoke. “Hey. What’re you doing up?” he asked, his wry smile creeping across his face.
I jumped and gasped as he startled me, then I turned around and gave him a straight face.
He chuckled and took one step back. “I’m sorry, your Worshipfullness, I didn’t realize you turned your Jedi senses off at night,” he said with both his arms out to one side. A lock of his black hair fell into his face as he bowed slightly. His brown eyes twinkled in the moonlight as he looked out from underneath his eyelashes, making my heart flutter.

She sat on her sofa with tears falling down her cheeks. They formed a pool in the hollows of her eyes before splashing onto the photo below. The picture was of her and her beloved ex-boyfriend that left her at the height of their relationship for a reason that she did not know. With the last tear that she was going to cry, she whispered to her self; "I can't do this anymore." He had told her so many lies during their relationship. He told her that she was beautiful; that she was the best thing that happened to him; and that she was the only person that he wanted to be with the rest of his life. And she fell for all those lies. With all the memories that he left her with made her do nothing but cry. With all the things that they have been threw together, he had to leave it all behind for nothing. He made her feel like something for once in her life and now that he's gone, she thinks that she will never love again.

I am 10 years old and a fast learner. I would love to write a great story and be one of the country's youngest authors that's had a story published. I am always having ideas but I hardly ever manage to finish my stories as I get new ideas halfway through, and start another story instead where the same happens. I do this on my laptop so it's wasting space as well - any advice on how to write a good story and how to stick to it?
