i know she had the A sewn own her dress, and about 7 years have passed with the A still on it, does that mean she wore the same thing for 7+ years? was wearing the same clothes common in the puritan's time?

She would have stitched it on to the different clothes as the square with the 'A' was found by the narrator in The Custom House. It wasn't attached to a dress then.

As she used it to show off her sewing skills and acquire work I reckon she'd have tried to look 'clean' on the outside or she'd never have gotten any customers.

i think she changed clothes but she just had to sew an A on each of her dresses
