Hi i am writing a story about 9/11.

I am at this part where the dad walks into the house all emotional when he thinks his had died in the trade centre.

How would anyone describe the dad's walk when he walks into the house?

Who has died?

Understanding the feelings of NYers after 9/11 is very complex. I know, I went through it. My brother was missing for ten hours. At first, I don't think anyone was "all emotional". We were too much in shock and trying to figure out what to do to be "all emotional". There were tears rolling down our cheeks, but adrenaline took over. My son's wife wanted to walk to Manhattan. She had no idea what to do or where to go to find her husband, but she felt helpless and hopeless sitting there. My reaction was I wanted my son near me and I raced to his school to get him. My mother didn't cry, but I don't think she said five words all day. You have to understand how quickly NYers pulled together to get stuff (I wanted to use another word there!) done. Construction workers just started showing up - walking downtown after walking off their jobs. People started taking things like water to them. It was almost instinctive and natural. You realized that was the only thing to do - pitch in and do something - anything. It wasn't until a couple days later when the emotions set in. I see you are in the UK. Let me tell you this - there was NOTHING on TV or in pictures that truly described that scene. Trust me - I was there. I stood there and stared at it weeks later and I still couldn't grasp the magnitude of the situation. I picked up a tiny pinch of the dust and preserved it in a tissue. I have it in a silver box on my dresser. It reminds me nothing - including big glass buildings - are forever.

You will have to really work on your characterization to determine what kind of a man this is and what his response is. But I assure you, NYers were of a single mind. We got busy.

I would suggest you spending some time reading some accounts of what people did. They truly make me proud to be a NYer. I have tried writing short stories about it, but I have to tell you, I don't think we're truly ready for using 9/11 for its entertainment value. We learned that when the WTC movie bombed at the box office. I am not sure that day will ever come. Pax - C

That is a indescribable face.....The person can be shocked or crying or even may be so nervous that he might even laugh.......
When 9/11 happened i was in school and i was actually able to see it from the window.......And while i was speed walking to the train station i took the 4 train on the Chambers stop and i was able to see many people trowing themselves out of the window...I couldn't even talk....But then i saw a man who was taking pictures or the chaos and i just burst on him i started to curse him out.......
