I have just recently completed a very good book and everyone tells me that I need to get it published. But the only problem is I don't know of any place that say's you don't need an agent, and I don't have any money to afford an agent. I tried scholastic but you need an agent with them also. Is there any place to get published that do not require an agent? Or can I just use my mom as my agent or another fmily member? Or do agent's have to have legal papers to show the publisher's that they are certified? But please help I can't afford an agent. And don't suggest lulu.com. They are a bear trap for anyone with a story and a valid credit card.

who'd just taken it out only a couple months prior and who was murdered?

This is part of a subplot. Deciding if I want to throw this in or if it's too unbelievable.

If you could have someone write you erotic stories (a collection of them), and there were no limits on what the content of the stories contained, what would you have written for you? Who would be in story (people you know? Or more general - age of person, type of person, etc). What kind of acts and settings would you want to read about? Anything is fair game for you to ask to be included in the book (as long as it is an erotic story).

A couple of people have urged me to write a book but I don't really know how, I have been giving talks on Anxiety Disorder for a while and a few advised I write a book and put all my information in it.

All the information is floating around my head and if asked a question on the topic I have no problems in responding, its when it comes to putting all that I have in my head onto paper, its almost like a block, I don't know where to start or how to go about it.

Any advice appreciated

I read it in a school library sometime around 1988. To the best of my memory, the first part is about a girl who is locked in a government fallout shelter with her father, who is restocking the shelter when a nuclear attack occurs. The second part of the book deals with the attempt to rebuild society by the decendents of survivors, who have lost almost all knowledge of technology. I do not think it is either "Strange Tomorrow" by Jean Karl or "Children of the Dust" by Louise Lawrence. Any possible suggestions (or even similarly themed books) would be appreciated. Thanks!

Preferably set between midevil to 17th century Europe. One that I can't put down. I like a little romance but not too tacky.

I was just reading a book and there was line that read: "Age dosen't bring wisdom. My grandad said some lose 'moral compass' as they get older. . ." The person who said that line was a teenager adressing a ruthless War Lord. The War Lord was going on about how young people are foolish and the older he'll get, he will realize there is no such thing as right and wrong, good or evil. It's what do and don't do. I kind of agree with Bosky. The Teenager. When people get older they do get corrupted by the world. Whether it be sex, money ect. So I kind of agree. . .

What do you think?

The name of the book is
JOHN CONSTANTINE HELLBALZER: SUBTERRANEN. . . novel based off a graphic novel. Good read!

Hi,

I haven't read LotF yet, but we will have to read it at school this year.
So what I was wondering (from the people who have already read it):

What is the book like?

It's obviously a well-written book, or otherwise it wouldn't be so well known... but really, I've heard from people that it's about cannibalism, kids killing each other while they're stuck on a far-away island.

Is the book simply violence, or does it go deeper than that? Is the violence very much in your face, or is it okay..

That's just what I was wondering --- so what do you say?

I read the story, "A Visit of Charity" by Eudora Welty for english class. At the end, the girl takes an apple that she had hidden behind a bush and takes a bite out of it. This is supposed to be a significant part of the story and symbolize something, but I am not sure what. Could it be something biblical? If anyone has read this story or could help me, please answer.

I've just finished reading "I am legend" by Richard Matheson, and I enjoy Michael Crichton's books (particularly "Prey").

Both books I found brilliant, but can anyone recomend me some good ones to read? One thing I really liked about the above two books were that although they were sci-fi, they make a good scientific approach to explaining the phenomena.

I also liked Arthur C Clarkes short stories where the emphasis is not on the actual explaining of the technology, but more on it's effects of such things upon human nature. To an extent, much in the same way as Mary Shelley's "frankenstein" went into more detail about the monsters reception in the public arena, as opposed to the physialogical in's and out's.

I think I'm trying to say that I prefer Sci-fi where the author makes a real attempt to integrate the fiction part in a realistic way (as opposed to klingons and photon torpedo's etc etc etc).

Thanks in advance

It's a book by Eve Bunting and it's about these teenagers that drive home past this famously dangerous point and one of them (Vicky?) dies. Then she meets the other ghosts of people who died there and together they convince the townspeople to make that place less dangerous (it involves balloons with the names of the people who died there). I read it when I was about 11, which is 15 years ago. Thanx!

I've just read an article about Raymond Carver, that it says: "He's an urban writer-the laureate of what one critic called "Hopelessville".
I just know that "ville" is another word for city or town and "laureate" is poet. Am I right?
