I love Dean Koontz, Mary Higgins Clark and Richard Layman and (at times) Stephen King and am interested in finding an author that writes like them in that style, if anyone has any suggestion would be very much appreciated.

Preferably someone who has been around a while as want to buy some second hand books of ebay of theirs!

John Saul is excellent for horror/thriller. His stuff is kinda psychological also, If you like Dean Koontz, You'd like him, start with Suffer the Children, Black Creek Crossing, The Manhattan Hunt Club, or The Blackstone Chronicles.

Jack Ketchum

I would suggest starting with The Girl Next Door.. (which was inspired by a real event)

He's been around for quite awhile, and his books are recommended by quite a few authors.. Including Stephen King.

Swan Song By Robert McCammon - "The Stand" but better. The Ruins By Scott Smith - Friends entangled in some dangerous Mayan ruins. The Killer Inside Me By Jim Thompson - The Sheriff of a small town happens to also be a serial killer Thanks for reading!

I don't understand your second paragraph at all, so I'll skip it, okay? and just say that for thriller: Patricia Highsmith and the Ripley series, read in order as they interlock in places/ suspense: Robert Ludlum and the Bourne series, the first being best, three counting/ horror: E.A. Poe & P. Straub.

Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti's later stuff such as Monster. They're a bit spiritual, but they're some of my favorite books. Some are even movies!

Also, it's more of a mystery, but one of my favorite books is the Hour Game by David Baldacci.
