I have heard that the mystery writer Agatha Christie's work has been put into comic form... that would be an interesting thing to own and read.
In regards to adventure, the first three books by Robert Ludlum of the Bourne series are pretty good, with the first one being quite good.
There are also all of Ian Fleming's books, all of James Clavell's books (especially "Shogun" and "Taipan" and its sequels), James Patterson's books involving Alex Cross, a psychologist cop who profiles serial killers, and read them in as much chronological order as you can manage (and Patterson also includes glimpses into the minds of the killers), all of Michael Crichton's and more.
Hope this helps and you have many days of happy reading...
