Maybe someone knows recourse? I don't have opportunity to buy a book, coz I leave really far from English-speaking countries, but I have opportunity to print the text from Internet. Maybe you know a good recourse for English- language contemporary books, I found some but they are only with classic literature, I like it but as well I need some novels, from contemporary writers. Help me, please

Please don't give answers such as Hary Potter, Lord of the Rings, Catcher in The Rye, To Kill a Mockingbird, War and Peace etc etc etc.

All great books, but I'm looking for some recommendations I may not have read already!

I'm terrible at remembering books, but some recent favourites are 'Shantaram', 'A Fine Balance', 'The Remains of the Day'. I generally like books about people, rather than epic and unbelievable thrillers.

Heres my idea. Ogres, goblins, humans, and dragon riders, all fighting for one sword that starterd the war between them. But it seems played out. How do i make it so it really stands out like Eragon or The Edge Chronicles?

If I write four different books about the same war, the same time period, and the same place, but if I show the viewpoint from four different people in four different armys, will it get boring? Im planning on making them all meet in one place at the very end. The way its in my mind its pretty cool, but I want to be like the kid who wrote Eragon, make a great book and still be young. So this has to be awsome

The Parking Lot
Looking out the spread of this parking lot while I sit in my car, I notice some things that other onlookers my not take much thought of.
As I look out I see a young boy and his father exiting a tall truck. As the dad shuffles around the truck before they go into the store, the boy notices a flimsy flyer from the store. He slowly walks over to the old paper bundle and kicks it into the air. When it lands back on the pavement, he kicks it again. This time the paper flies a little further away. Just as he is about to walk over and kick it again, his dad tells him to come in the store now. He looks at the flyer lying on the ground for a moment. As the wind blows underneath it, it seems like it wants to fly again. It bounces up and down like a young puppy. His dad calls again. He quickly looks over to his dad and walks toward him. Just before he reaches the car across from theirs, he looks back to see the flyer again, but it isn't there. As he looks around he...

I plan on trying to get published in a couple of years and I like to write darker type books (drama, horror, etc.)
My mom is a devoted Christian, as is my grandma. My mother-in-law is a devoted Jehovah's Witness...
This one part in my book gets pretty graphic, I read it back and was even like, ugh.
But it has to happen in the book to make the bad guy come across the way I want him to be portrayed... if it doesn't happen then he's not as intimidating....
My family is really anxious to read my novel when I'm done. I don't know if I should leave it in and just hope they don't criticize, or take it out, or lessen it or what.
What would you do?

And or scariest story you have ever told, or wrote, or read?
Why did it entice you to hear the whole story, or at least a part of it, and why or in what ways did it scare you?

Would you listen again, or not?

Who is a great story teller of these types of stories..in your own personal opinion..and this can be a family member, a neighbor, a librarian, a friend, a person whom you don't know etc...?

thanks!!

I'm particularly interested in reading a few pages of "Day by Day Armageddon", because it sounds like something I'd like but not sure if I want to buy it yet.

Your help is appreciated! Thanks!
