yes i know about plagiarism and all that, but it is not like this story is something i am going to sell. it is just something i wanted some opinions on. and i have shown it to my family/friends but they are obliged not to be too critical. anyway thanks for the detailed answer

It is a really bad idea to send your story to a complete stranger to read. Are you unaware of plagiarism on the internet? You are running the risk of losing your work to someone else. There is NO copyright that is worth a darn unless you are willing to pay a high priced lawyer to defend it - across state or country borders.

If you are interested in getting opinions about your story you should join a face to face writers group and establish a rapport with the people in it before you allow them to have your story. Libraries and large book stores have free groups you can join.

The other reason you shouldn't send your story to strangers online is you have no idea who they are or what they know. The average age here seems to be about 17. Most are kids in just about the same boat you are, and their opinions won't help you very much. If you want the opinions of a jury of your peers, send it to people. If you want a reliable, honest opinion - join a writers group or enroll in a writing class.

I have read the proverbial window washer story in about 100 different versions. It is very cliche.
