i'm working on writing a book. I'm 13, but my literary skills are pretty good for my age. the person that wrote Eragon was 15 when the first was published. I have two suggestions:
1. I'm thinking about writing something that could be the next Harry Potter. It going to be a fantasy as well, it includes a magical school, something about blood lineage, and a prophecy. The main characters, however, is a girl, two or her friends, and a magical creature that shares a connection with the girl. I'm hesitant about writing it, because the magical school idea was a big part in Harry Potter, and I don't want to be accused to plagiarism.
2. I feel a little safer about this one, but I'm not quite as into it as the first. It takes place in medieval times, includes mythical creatures, such as an elf, and the main character is a boy. It has a few references to famous characters in Arthurian legends, such as King Arther, Merlin, and Lady of the Water. Magic is a major part of the plot, as is #1.

If Snape was always on Harry's side, why was he always mean to him? He was always hoping to send him home, get him expelled or punished. I am wondering if JK decided at the last minute to have Snape be a good guy.

***SPOILER ALERT - IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE BOOK***

How did Neville get the fake sword to kill "the thing"?

How did Snape know where Harry was to plant the sword and send the Patronus? Does that mean he knew where he was?

Is it a commision based on each book they sell? Do they get paid differently for domestic and international sales? Generally speaking, at what level does an author begin to be able to command a fee for a speaking engagement or reading?

[These questions don't pertain to mega-superstar authors. I am just talking about the average, new to the business writer.]

What do you think will happen to Harry Potter in future?

I am a huge Harry Potter and I hope as well as think that it will be a piece of cake for children at least for the next 20 years or so. Even though the final book disappointed me a bit (see the other questions I have asked today from my profile), still I will never be able to forget the phenomenon it has created, myself. The first ever Harry Potter book that I read was Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in 2003, and even though I didn't understand half of it (I didn't even know that there were two previous books), I have stayed glued to the books ever since.

Finally, let's all raise a glass to Harry Potter, the boy who lived, and JKR, the lady who stirred the world.

A stunning spell is only temporary. After it wears off the Death eater can try to kill again. This is the final battle. Harry should be eliminating the death eaters permanently.

I bought it at 1:30 PM IST (8:00 AM GMT) on 21st July, started reading it at 2:30 PM IST and finished it on 4:22AM IST, 22nd July. I have re-read twice more precisely since. We have this "know it all blowhard" at my job and he is always bragging about how much he reads and how difficult the books are that he reads. Just once I'd like to piss on his fire and have read a book that he deems to his level or above. I'll probably only read the Cliff Notes, but it just having him think I read some "big wig" book will be wonderful
