What do you think will happen to Harry Potter in future?
I am a huge Harry Potter and I hope as well as think that it will be a piece of cake for children at least for the next 20 years or so. Even though the final book disappointed me a bit (see the other questions I have asked today from my profile), still I will never be able to forget the phenomenon it has created, myself. The first ever Harry Potter book that I read was Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in 2003, and even though I didn't understand half of it (I didn't even know that there were two previous books), I have stayed glued to the books ever since.
Finally, let's all raise a glass to Harry Potter, the boy who lived, and JKR, the lady who stirred the world.

That's an interesting questions . . . . People like you and I will certainly read the books to our children, and give them to your children's children and so on, however, I don't think they will have the popularity with future generations that they do now.
A large part of the interest/obsession was having to wait years for the next installment, forming theories of what you think will happen, waiting in line to get the book at midnight, etc. Anyone who starts reading the books now won't have that suspense, which largely led to the Harry Potter craze.
When we pass this series along to our children, they will have access to all 7 books at one time and could get through the entire series in a few weeks. No suspense, no sensation . . .
I think they will remain popular, but not to present day standards.

I do not think it will, and I'll tell you why:
1. It is really kind of a fad, the books and movies became instantly popular and everyone wants more more more, but once the story is wrapped up, I do not think anyone will be saying "remember harry potter? i wish there were still books being made about him"
2. The movies have already been made - when books become movies i think it speeds up their demise (while making a ton of $$$$) look at lord of the rings - those books were written forever ago but just recently have been made movies. when a book becomes a movie, there is no where left for it to go.
3. It is not quite epic enough. while the plot is good, it is simple. The story is really about harry growing up - so once he is grown there is little reason to go back and re-read or rewatch his younger adventures where as movies/books like Starwars, indiana jones, lord of the rings etc. are adventures that can be watched over and over again.
I could come up with some more reasons, but this answer is getting too long.

I hope harry lives forever! I hope Jo (JKR) continues with him. I love re-reading the books! I must have read each book 10 times! I think we should have a Harry Potter day ( harry's and Jo's B'day) on 31st July, and it will be a holiday! We will buy wands and hp accessories. I know its crazy, but I hope this happens some day!

I think that this is a hard question. Because of the movies I think that there is a possibilty that future generations will rather watch the movies than read the books. The movies could also bring people to the books as well. I think only time will tell.

Harry Potter will continue because all those who loved the books will encourage their children to read them as well.
In the mean time, here's some others that you can pass on to your future children:

Included is a list of only the best sorcery fantasy books, grade reading level, and a short review of each book.
I hope this helps.

Have read all Harry Potter; fantastic! Time can't touch 'im; nothing can! 'Cheers! To Potter's health, for all times! (count me in, certainly! not as big as Hagrid, but as big a fan alright!) recommend you read from the first book onwards, don't miss any of the series!

i think it will be a children's favourite novel for atleast the next 20 years
but i dont think it will turn into a classic
you should hear J.K disaproove how the classics are treated i.e to gather dust in the shelves
she was cunning enough to set us up with the epilogue 19 years later
nothing like the endings in general classics
so she did her job
now it's only time that will tell
till then you can try more series

Not for 20 years. It is likely that harry may become a household name for 100s of years.
