Or other authors. I love to laugh until I cry, and some of Flannery O'Conner was amazing.

Did things happen that you didn't expect, or things you expected to happen that didn't?
Let's hear your thoughts on the last book of the famous Harry Potter series.

Me, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, because there were plenty of shocking moments. Like after the chase to the Tonks' house, when the chapter was titled "Fallen Warrior", I really thought Hagrid was dead at the beginning and I was thoroughly upset. Or when Hermione got tortured, Bellatrix decided to do it so suddenly it was a shock.

But the ending was too "fairy tale", if you know what I mean. The good guy won and got the girl, and I was convinced that Harry would sacrifice himself to defeat Voldemort (the last few chapters made it sound like that!). And neither Ron nor Hermione died! I was expecting throughout the entire book for one of them to die.

So, your thoughts

I have too much free time, am bored and am thinking of getting a novel that can really eat my time.
Any genres will be welcome, even the philosophical.
And, please, just please, try to recommend a THICK book.

Thanks!

I'm looking for a book and I have completely forgotten the name and the author but I do remember that it had to do with a boy named Sharona or something who had an animal, and he goes to a park and it also talks about fireflies a lot. I would really appriciate the help. Thanks.

i seem to get different answers and so i got a bit confused. its the part where dumbledore asks snape if he cares for harry and snape casts a patronus and he asks after all this time? and snape answers always. is it that Snape has grown to care about Harry and always has, or that he denies that he cares for harry and summons the Patronus to show that he only does this because he cares about lily? also, in the book it says that someone had tears in their eyes, i thought it was snape, but i read it over and it could have been either one?

It has come to the attention of several authors who hang out on this board and help others that there are several here who run sites containing illegal downloads of copyrighted material like Harry Potter and the Stephanie Meyer books. Keyword - illegal. These books are protected by FEDERAL copyright laws. Distributing them is illegal and a federal offense. Read the US Copyright laws. If you can download the books, you can download the laws too.

Let it be known that several authors here are sick and tired of seeing the hard work of authors stolen. Authors write for a living and they have every right to be compensated for their work - in other words PAID for their books. Posting and sharing illegal sites with illegal copies of these and other books will not be tolerated. We will report you to Abuse. We will also contact the publishers - Scholastic, Little Brown etc. as well as the American agents who represent these authors. If you get caught, they can and will press charges.

On page 274 of the American edition of Deathly Hallows, there is a sentence that is confusing me. It says: "Hermione was watching Ron fret over the fate of the Cattermoles, and there was such tenderness in her expression that Harry felt almost as if he had surprised her in the act of kissing him."
This sentence does not make sense to me. Can someone explain? Thanks!
