On page 274 of the American edition of Deathly Hallows, there is a sentence that is confusing me. It says: "Hermione was watching Ron fret over the fate of the Cattermoles, and there was such tenderness in her expression that Harry felt almost as if he had surprised her in the act of kissing him."
This sentence does not make sense to me. Can someone explain? Thanks!

That's also how I interpreted it, Heard the World, but I wanted other's opinions.

Harry was catching a glimpse of something that was about as intimate as a kiss--in this case, Hermione showing the true depth of her feelings for Ron.

Harry feels embarrassed because he notices Hermione looking at Ron with an expression of tenderness over his showing emotion about the fate of the Cattermoles.

In other words Harry feels like he is interrupting a private moment between them.

Harry felt as if he had suprised Hermione is the act of kissing Ron.

It's a little unclear, because the pronoun 'him' could refer to either Harry or Ron, but knowing Hermoine's feelings for Ron, that's what I interpreted.

I agree with Aida, with a slight twist. The emotion Harry saw on Hermione's fact was saw raw and full of emotion, it made Harry feel the same as he would have if he haad found Ron and Hermione kissing. Harry realized at that moment just how much Hermione loved Ron, even though they weren't necessarily aware of it themselves.

I interpreted this as: as Harry watched Hermione watching Ron he witnessed something in her expression that made him feel as though he was witnessing something very intimate; because he was starting to really see the depth of Hermione's feelings for Ron.

It just means that Harry was embarrassed by the apparent depth of feeling in the look that Hermoine was giving Ron...it made him feel like he'd just interrupted an intimate moment.
The look Hermoine gave Ron was one of such tenderness. that Harry, seeing that look, felt like he had just walked in on Hermoine kissing Ron.

Yea, I didn't understand that either, I think it might mean that there was a look on her face as if Ron has just kissed one of the cattermoles maybe? or kissed Harry? Maybe it is just a typo and she meant to write "her" instead of "him". I'm not sure..I just skipped past it since it wasn't that important..haha

She might have meant, "Harry felt almost as if he had surprised her in the act of kissing her," or something like that. It doesn't make much sense to me either.

Ron and Hermoine kiss? That's almost crazy. That's why Harry compared it to that. Hermoine was paying SO much attention to the Cattermoles, that it was almost crazy. (wink wink nudge nudge)

Hermoine had a look on her face. . . . you know the one! It's the look of LOVE, tenderness, caring, etc. Harry felt like he was intruding on Hermoine's personal feelings.
