Hon, not everyone reads at the same speed.

If you are anxious to read the book, buy another copy.

Not unless they have a serious time cramp or reading limitation.

I finished in under twenty four hours.

However, they do get points for picking up the book at midnight.

even so... all of the fans I know were done within the first three days. I don't know how they could be that far back, just because it was soooooooooooooooooooo hard to put down.

but they are WAY more of a fan than the movie go-ers. WAY more.

Why not? Isn't a basketball fan just someone who likes basketball? I would think that the same applies to Harry Potter. If the person likes the books/movies, he or she is a fan.
=)

Yea, I'm a fan of HP, but that doesn't mean I'll immediatly read all of the books when it first comes out. Some of my friends aren't done with it for diff. reasons.. Reading the books slowly might allow you to find some extra details that other have missed because they read too fast.

If someone is going to be inline at midnight for it then they should make more time for it that just chapter 5. And if this person is you, you shouldn't be online unless you want to know what happens before actually reading it.

Well, maybe they haven't had the time, or are a slow reader, or maybe they want to savor the book. I don't think there's any kind of definition of a fan, it's just a person who really likes a certain thing.

Yes!
If they enjoyed the books, they're a fan.
Now, or twenty years from now, why not let them enjoy it?

If they flew to another country to buy it and read it in English, because their translation wasn't on release yet in their land, that's fanaticism, the full word, no question : )

A HP fan has to come from the heart. So what if they're only on chap. 5. They are alowed to have a life outside hogwarts. all they have to do to be a fan is love it and enjoy it!!

If they are on Chapter 5 just now, they are not a true Harry Potter fan. If they read all of it at night when they first got it and didn't went to sleep, they're the truest Harry Potter.

I'd call someone a fan if they read any of the books and enjoyed it.

Or the movie.
