so tell me, is there anyone else out there who found the 7th HP book rather...well not that great? I mean, I loved it so much until the end. The battle scene however felt very anti-climatic. There was no intensity to it and I was very disappointed. Also I think Fred's death was a low blow, very low indeed. I thought the whole thing with Dumbledore was odd too. I mean JK has made such a point that Dumbledore was dead, yet here Harry goes and has anice little chat with a deadman in his head..it all just seemed...rushed, and not up to it's best standards.. I loved the rest of the book up until here...it's just this part made me not like it as much as I really wished I could have..It seemed everyone else just loved the book, but does anyone feel the same way I do?

Okay I am in the process of writing my book but I never think of the plot. What I mean is that when I first strated writing my story I didn't plan out what the characters had to do or any of that stuff. Now when I am in the middle of the book things are still the same. I just keep writing without planning anything plot wise. My question, did you have your plot planned out before writing it or were there some major blanks?

I know it's official publication was in 1898. Just wonder if if spent time as a series first as I believe novels use to do. I have my reasons for wanting to know.

I have to have an essay written concerning the political, economical, social, and cultural aspects of the book [that is due in 6 hours]. Does anyone know what I could put for examples relating to those topics?

Any help would be excellent. Thanks.

Also, can anyone answer these?
How does the author express concerns or give enlightenment?
Suggestions for the people of the U.S.
What was learned about the author/ time period?
Insight gained?

Thanks again.

okay so I've read lots of the teen fantasy books at my library and I want more!

the typical kind I like is main characters either a boy, or a boy and a girl.

i like the sort of book where chraracter(s) go up against impossible odds and win and get the girl. I know its stereotypical of fantasy but I'm a sucker for it.

some of what I'm looking for to give you and idea are books like:
the belgariad series
the mallorean series
keys to the kingdom
birdwing
the iron ring
the bartimaues trilogy
wereling trilogy
dune series
HP books
the strongbow saga
rangers apprentice series
wabi
dusk

books like that. so if you could give me a big long list, I would really appreciate it!

thanks so much! -Daniel

I heard something about not allowing smoking in movies anymore, and I'm wondering if this also applies to books.

My protagonist is a smoker. He doesn't glorify it or make it seem 'cool'. He's trying to quit, but it's easier said than done.

I want to be a writer of novels and short stories and honestly can't see myself doing anything else. It has been that way since I was seven. I'm planning to begin sending out my first novel to agencies by the end of 10th grade. I promised myself that if I don't get any proposals, by the first semester of 11th grade, I'll consider college.
Good idea?

Hes so quixotic.

quixotic \kwik-SOT-ik\, adjective:

1. Caught up in the romance of noble deeds and the pursuit of unreachable goals; foolishly impractical especially in the pursuit of ideals.
2. Capricious; impulsive; unpredictable.

I'm 15, my birthday's coming up and I told my parents I want to buy a lot of books since I'm a bookworm, you could say. The problem is I'm really confused on which books I should get. I already made a list, but I'm not quite sure if they would be good or not. I love Adventure, Fantasy, and Horror. I'm gonna list a few books I like so that no one suggests things that I have already read:

- Harry Potter
- The Chronicles of Narnia
- Twlight (don't care if it's for girls!
- A Wrinkle in Time
- The Dark Tower
- The House of The Scorpion
- Anne Rice's Vampire Series
- The Bartimaues Trilogy
- Pendragon

Listen, i'm creating a story filled with an amazing adventure and horror. It's about a little village who keeps having strange attacks by this mysterious creature every night. At first, the creature starts attacking thier cattle, leaving the corpse behind. Then, it attacks homes and goes after the innocent villagers. The warriors of the village try to take matters into thier own hands by killing this monster, but none came back alive. But thier is one villager that wont watch his village be currupter by this animal. 16 year-old Wayne goes on a journey on hunting this monster down and destroying it once and for all with the help of his firend Kira. Like it?

I love to write but I'm pretty young to be a "writer" (13) - how do I get there? I could post some examples of my stories...the one problem is I'm sort of shy about the whole thing, my parents don't even know that I've worked on several stories for a couple years. I don't know how exactly I got hooked into this, but since I was about 8 I feel in love with writing. If I am shy about people reading my stuff, how can I become a real writer some day if that is my path?

OK, nobody seems to exactly know this, and I'm hoping you guys do. Is the CONTENT of the kids versions of the Harry Potter books any different to those of the grown-up versions, or is it just that the grown-up versions have "serious" covers and different typefaces? Thanks folks.
