What authors are similar to Barbara Michaels and Victoria Holt/Philippa Carr? Just to clarify what I'm looking for, I see these authors' works as kind of suspenseful, with a supernatural twist and some romance involved. There is no graphic violence, no explicit sex scenes, and the supernatural stuff isn't overly spooky. I've read most of Michaels and Holt/Carr, at least the books I could find. Just wondering who else is out there.

I'm looking for some good fictional survivalism books. Survivalism is the act of being alone in a world/time/place foreign to you or under certain circumstances where you alone must do whatever it takes to survive.

A numbers of books/films that include acts of survivalism are any zombie film/book, red dawn and I am legend.

Do you know any more? Books that is.

I'm a little sad its over but oh well. Sh*t happens :) Id really like another cool fantasy series to read, but am not sure where to get started looking. I figured since I liked HP SO much Id ask other fans to see what they are reading now. Thanks for the input. And If you plan on insulting me for liking HP, please come up with something a bit more intelligent than calling me a nerd :P knthxbye. <3

If they both coexisted in a world where magical powers were equal to each other(they both have the same limitations, etc.), who would win in a duel/battle between Gandalf the Grey and Albus Dumbledore at the PEAK of their powers? This also raises this question: of the two, who is the greater wizard?

It was a quarter to midnight. Three dark figures crowded around a small marble table in a spherical room. The orange glare of the crackling fire behind them shadowed their features. Dressed in long, black cloaks, the figures glared down at their rippling reflections in the glistening pool of shallow water that filled the circular dip in the center of the table.
“Hurry up!” a man whispered impatiently. “The sooner we know what’s happening with them, the better!”
The woman with her back to the fireplace shot him a look of annoyance. “Patience,” she said slowly, her lips barely moving, “is the key to seeing into the future. Now calm down, Dexan, or I shall refuse to help you.”
“We didn’t ask you to help us, we’re telling you!” he replied, his dark eyes blazing with rage.

About a fourteen year old girl who is infatuated with mysteries and detective books and movies. Her family is very rich but all the members in her family are sort of weird. After some time, a real "mystery" pops up when the life of one of her brothers is threatened. The killer is probably one of the brother's seven friends who come to stay with them for the holidays. This killer comes up with several original ways to kill the brother. (For example, the killer brings in poisonous wood and lights the fireplace in the brother's room with it. The windows are closed and the fire goes on all night while the brother sleeps. This could kill him, but he survives because someone breaks into his room early in the morning...long story) But the brother manages to escape every time. The police have a hard time believing that these are all cases of attempted murder (because they are very unusual) and dismiss the whole thing saying that it's just these rich people making mountains out of molehills.

Alright. So I was at the movie theater and I found out that this book is going to be made into a movie!!! I hated that book! I was in 6th grade when I read it and it is still on the top of my least favorite books. Does anyone else dislike this book as much as me? Has anyone else even read this?

I've been to editors.com or whatever, but I need some real feedback.

I'm a budding writer and artist and I was wondering if for some of you drawing out your characters helps you write about them? It's a proven fact for me that if I can't picture my character, I can't write about them.

On the other hand, I'm planning to write either a short story or... a long story, depending on how it turns out, and I really need some help for ideas on how to start it and whether or not I should include things to help the storyline.

For more information, please either e-mail me or contact me through deviantArt: http://bri-san.deviantart.com/
