in the 3rd book it was said that Cho Chang was a year older to harry potter that means if harry is in 6th year she will be in her 7th and final year. how come she is in hogwarts in the harry potter and the deathly hallows?

Dude, you are saying that Cho Chang is an year older than Harry. That's true. But, WHERE DO THEY SAY in the seventh book that, Cho Chang was STILL STUDYING in the school? I mean she did come to meet Harry in Hogwarts, but so did Lupin, Kingsley, percy, etc. does that mean they study too?! No, she must have come because everybody who was fighting against Voldemort and personally knew Harry and had communication with the still- students of the school, had come in to the room of requirement in order to fight alongside harry and be of his help. And as you know, Cho Chang was a member of the Dumbledore's Army and it can also be said that she had a crush on Harry, so why shouldn't she come to hogwarts even though she is not a student?

For the same reason other DA members at least a year older than Harry are at Hogwarts. Don't forget Oliver Wood's seventh year was in book three, and the last time we saw him before the Battle For Hogwarts in "Deathly Hallows" was very briefly at the Quidditch World Cup in book four. Wood was not a DA member and yet he showed up. You have so many former Hogwart's students who support Harry showing up to defend the school. Hogwarts can also serve as a haven for those Voldemort and the Death Eaters may hunt, but largely the names of those no longer at the school seem to show up just before the battle begins.

Many people, even after passing out of Hogwarts, visited their alma mater (and now the ground for creating anti-Muggle young wizards and school for being taught the Dark Arts) through Ariana's portrait in the Hog's Head. Even Fred, George, Oliver Wood, Katie Bell, etc. were visiting the students of Hogwarts and Dumbledore's Army and supporting everyone there by coming in this way.

She was a member of the DA, so she had the message coin. And since she probably knew that things were going wrong at Hogwarts throughout the year, she likely carried the coin around with her. She wasn't always at Hogwarts; I think she just came when called like the others did.

It is mentioned in the same chapter that the "Charmed Coin" used by 'Dumbledore's Army' is used now also to send the message.That's how others also get the news &arrive. Cho was a member of the 'DA'. Dean,Luna,Fred&others get the message in the same way!

i would say it is a mistake that was made by accident. It is hard even with editors and publishers to get everything right many authors make mistakes especially ones who produce books so rapidly. Just like when the fourth book was originally published in the UK the name of an incorrect character was inserted in the wrong spot. However all additions after that were corrected.

She wasn't. If you look back, Fred and George also came back. Nevile sent out a message on the fake Galleons, so all former DA members came, whether they were at Hogwarts or not.
Also, she came through the portrait hole.

It could mean that her birthday was simply earlier in the year than Harry's. So when Harry was still 13, she was 14, thus a year older.

It wasn't mentioned that she was already in Hogwarts but simply that she came after seeing the enchanted coins. So we can't really think that she was studying in Hogwarts at that time.

cho is not at hogwarts... she says.."i got the message", holding up the fake galleon.. its just she came from elsewhere...
