What the other person said is true but if you want to verify a copyright go down to the courts and pay like $20-35 to have legal proof in your hands. Yes you automatically have one. Put the copyright sign on your typed work. I think that you have to press ctrl alt and c to get the c with the circle around it but I'm not sure. If I am wrong ask your computer what keys to press in the help section on wicrosft works.

Under current US law, you have an automatic copyright generally on any work you've written. There can be some exceptions, such as if you wrote it as an work product on your employer's time, in which case the employer owns the copyright, but generally copyright is gained automatically and doesn't require registration.
