Yeah, I was expecting a great climax but the story just seemed to fade out. Certainly expected You-know-who's dispatch to be more imaginative than yet another backfired curse. And that dreadful epilogue seemed to drive a stake through the heart of the story.
To be fair about it though -- other than the crummy ending I really loved the series.

I do see what you mean. I don't think I like really loved it till the time before the very end, for some reason. But I agree with you, I imagined the battle scene to have a bit more action, I really didn't think they would be talking most of the time. Fred's death was sad, but not everyone could live. I can see how you see the book is a little rushed too, I didn't expect the end to come so quickly. I thought the book was really good, best in the series, but sadly, as much as I wanted to, I don't really know if I thought it was super, super amazing, just really, really good.

I thought the book was a kick, and had fun all the way through reading it. A day or two later I thought, 'What exactly DID happen after, say, chapter twenty-nine...?' So I'm reading those chapters again. And having more fun. Maybe if you tried it again? Also, I've read here and there that JK was originally thinking of having Arthur Weasley die...dunno what changed her mind, but --as a twin myself I must say I was, shall we say, 'impressed' she killed off Fred. :-/ No, I guess I have to say I thought the battle scene was pretty intense. So intense I'm not sure still what happened....hmmm.
Re: Dumbledore 'chatting' with Harry, it seems like things like that happened in all the HP books, didn't they? Lots of stuff from dead people.

I think most potter fans don't want to criticize the book because its the last one. I liked it a lot but it does have flaws. You have a good point; the middle is drawn out and lenghthy and the end is hurried and rushed. the whole part about Dumbledore is odd but I liked it because it provided closure between Harry and Dumbledore. I know I felt robbed by Dumbledore's sudden death and it felt good to hear from him one last time. I was also hurt by Fred's death. But I feel the middle could have been condensed and the end could have been more detailed.

I thought it was great. The end battle was not anti-climactic, but it was a bit more cerebral than some would have liked. Instead of a big huge battle sequence we had harry sacrifice himself and have nice chat with Dumbledore. If you were looking for an action movie ending then you were probably disappointed.

It wrapped up kind of fast after the battle. And any dead Weasleys are sad.
But hey, it had a lot of twists.
The thing about Dumbledore is that he is human (Well, a wizard, but..). Noone is one dimensional. He was held up on a pedestal for the first 6 books, but he has flaws like any other character.
I think some of the loose ends were left intentionally loose.

I know what you mean, and I feel the same way. I loved everything but the epilogue. It didn't even seem like it was written by her. I saw spoilers of the epilogue on the internet and I did NOT believe it till I got to the last chapter page and I went "well, that sucked." However, besides that, I thought the book was well-written, compelling, and extremely sad.

****Spoilers**** while Harry replaced right into a toddler, the reality that his mom died as a manner to guard him, shielded him from injury by potential of Voldemort; And so, he survived the killing curse. interior the woods while Harry is going to sacrifice himself, the reason he survives isn't using fact of his mom, it extremely is using fact the wand Voldemort stole would not artwork for him. Voldemort only suceeded in destroying the horcrux interior harry. on the huge coach-down on the tip, using fact harry sacrificed himself to Voldemort, he replaced into able to guard the different people who have been scuffling with on his element interior the comparable way that his mom secure him; So definite, that could mean that from the time he sacrified himself to the tip of the e book persons scuffling with on harry's element could in all probability stay to tell the story a killing curse. I enjoyed the epilogue. Albus Severus Potter. I had to place the e book down and characteristic a wee cry. the flicks are based around the e book so how can the 6th action picture be ruined by potential of analyzing the seventh and final e book? What occurred in e book 6 did no longer replace using fact of e book 7. Snape replaced into continually retaining Harry, yet he nonetheless hated him.

Yeah. It was a little rushed, but it's good. She could have done something for Tonks and Lupin. And what about Cho? I was really hoping that Harry would have a chat with her and tell her that he was with Ginny now.
