Yes, I have been meaning to read author Thomas E. Ricks' book 'Fiasco: The American Military Adventure in Iraq' - but I'll wait once it is available in paperback.

This hasn't been a "war" since a week after the invasion. Since then it's been an occupation which has had the foreseeable result of a civil war between sunnis and shiites, with sideswipes from both sides against the U.S., which could have and should have concentrated on Afghanistan.
It's not a question of whether the U.S. should pull out of Iraq; but how?

The war in Iraq has reached a stage where nothing can been done to save the US from a humiliating defeat. Pulling out of Iraq will signal to Al Qaeda that they have won, staying on will mean that more lives will be lost and money will be pumped in. It will depend on the US government to whether she want to save 'face' or loose more lives and resources. I figured it will be the latter. Of course my answer is simplistic, and there are many complicated issues that can be used to debate it. US may have more to loose if they were to say "enough is enough we are getting out of here." I guess for the rest of the world's sake, I am for it. Starting it may be wrong but getting out now is more wrong. A signal to terrorist groups that they have won the war in Iraq would mean that such tactics, if you can call it, works. Who knows which part of the world would the next war be then.

Of course no one blames the troops! God how could we? Yeah some bad crap has happened, but you don't blame everyone for the actions of a few.

I just wish so many didn't have to die. I feel like it is up to the people of Iraq now, and the sooner we can get out there the better.

They should have ordered a withdrawal after over-throwing Saddam. And then troops should have gone to Darfur. Any act of genocide should result in action. I really feel like the world let them down.

I think it is a good effort to kills hundreds of al queada terroists there rather than in the U.S. and the idea of helping the Iraqi people to build their country is encouraging but the situation seems dire. So little clear water and so little electricity in Iraq due to terrorism. It is something of a catch 22; make progess but get shot down. Frustrating

Definitely against it. Bush decided to invade based on false and cherry-picked intelligence. The rubber-stamp Congess went along for the ride. His reasons for us being there have changed several times since the invasion. It has cost too much, in terms of lives lost (our troops, and many innocent Iraqi civilians) and borrowed tax dollars. In the beginning, the only real terrorist in Iraq (to his own people) was Saddam Hussein. Now, there are many terrorists targeting our troops and allies.

I support our troops by holding our leaders accountable.

It's me again!! I like political questions!!

Definitely against the war. I think it's unnecessary. I don't know all the details, but from what I know, I think America should mind our own business and leave other countries alone. And if we don't back down, we can't get mad when someone wants to bomb our cities.

I think the war is wasting time and taking lives. We can't get that time back, and we definitely can't get those lives back.

=( Against it. For sure.

being a prior iraq war veteran along with afghanistan war veteran,i have this to say and you can take it how you like it. i spent 10 years in the army.i joined believing that i was doing something truly admirable for my country.i did so for about 5 years and theniraq happened.i thought," well it's about time we take saddam out of power and free his people from persacution".when we got over there, there was alot of bad satuff that happened but after the major fighting had stopped, there was alot of good being done.however, after all these years of being over there i feel we overextended our stay by at least 2 years.we did our job,we got saddam out of power, brought him to justice, and gave his people freedom so what are we still doing there? i feel you can blame the government as much as you want but please whatever you do,don't blame the troops.they didnt choose to go over there.
