I have read Lord of the Rings and really enjoyed. I have also read the first book in the Dragonlance but couldn't get excited about it. Right now I'm reading the Harry Potter books but am almost finished. Any suggestions on a new fantasy series to pick up?

i love being in love and everything that comes with it but i'm starting to believe that being single and consequently not engaging in romantic affairs gives me more peace. 'cause if i fall in love, i fall for real & once it's over it hurts too much and it makes me totally shattered; emotionally & mentally. i love romance & passion but if it's not with the right person i don't do it. so i guess, what i'm really asking is for your opinion on coming to terms with being single and how to control your desire. i don't wanna feel it 'cause it makes me long for something i can't have.

thanks

one quarter of the nation would like to be a published author one day, everyone knows someone writing some sort of book. Will you please let them know about www.canadabookpublisher.com, they produce books at extremely low prices and market them in bookstores nation wide, if your not picked up by a trade publisher meaning your with the other 98% of writers, they're the next best choice.

I thought those books were a part of American literature. Lord of the Flies and a couple of others I was really surprised to see. Why is that?

what's better; having big time plans for the future and a heartache if they collapse or just going with the flow (which makes me depressed 'cause there's no sense of direction & stability)

does the introduction part of the story, called "the custom-house" have anything to do with the actual story, and do i have to read that saction for AS English as well as the rest of the f*****g story?? im going to quote the first f*****g sentence for you who aint read it okay?

It is a little remarkable, that-though disinclined to talk overmuch of myself and my affairs at the fireside, and to my personal friends-an autobiographical impulse should twice in my life have taken possession of me, in adressing the public.

do i HAVE to read it cuz it took me half an hour to decipher the first page and a half, before i gave up!! HELP!!

I have some familiarity with the book and don't necessarily think it's entirely age appropriate for the grades/forms it's taught in. I was provoked to ask this question by a kid who called into a talk show asking what the point of assigning Catcher was supposed to be, given the crimes of Chapman, Hinckley, and others.

Why (IYO) is Catcher - notwithstanding its mature issues and dated situations - taught nowadays?

Do you feel Catcher is inherently harmful; i.e., a justification or inspiration for bad attitudes?

If you learn that your son/daughter was to be assigned Catcher what advice would you give them?

Thanks! *Lobs a side of beef into the aquarium and watches*

It amazes me that their is such thing as a banning of books. I can only agree with books that promote concotions for disaster such as the "Anarchist Cook Book", should not be allowed. However, many books that I enjoyed reading during my school years were some of the best pieces of literature I have read, and are now being banned. It seems like a great force of control by religious zealots and the "politically correct" fanatics suppressing free thought.

What is so dangerous in it ? What is what the authorities find so "threatening"?

It is said that "Harry Potter series, by J.K. Rowling, it is challenged for its focus on wizardry and magic." But that is not an answer to my question!

PRIMROSE HILL
We do not speak
of that.
In this family we never open up
that hurt.
Let the mind contemplate the idea that I might have had a brother.
But we do not speak of that.

I wrote this poem about borders... what do you think?

'Gator River

black boy, in a black house
white girl, in a white house
either side of 'Gator river

The alligators snap,
green, slimy and livid
with their guns and striped hoppers
Infecting 'Gator river

they try to cross
to reach, and love eachother
a black shoe, a white shoe
either side of 'Gator river

the blistered backs sink
beneath pointed toe
and they fall, screaming to the bottom
now both brown by the bubbling mud
on the bed of 'Gator river
