what's better; having big time plans for the future and a heartache if they collapse or just going with the flow (which makes me depressed 'cause there's no sense of direction & stability)

go with the flow, you can't predict or "plan out" how your life is going to turn out. yes everyone has an Idea and goals set for how they want to live and where they want to be after so many years.

As for the rest of it, relax. enjoy life.

Sometimes it's better to give in, But give in in a good way. Let it be sometimes and then you'll be at peace more. If you can't do nothing about something, then let it be. But never stop fighting though!Because this is how you find direction. If you just give up then you will never know what it is that you want to know or understand? But give it time, nothing somes overnight. So let it be. So, I say both! I hope this helps you! God Bless!

There is a middle way: be a realist. Sometimes you'll fail at your plans; sometimes you'll succeed. Try to appreciate the value in the process and be aware of the potential interest and intensity available in any moment.

It is important to have goals and you to make plans on how to acheive them. Just drifting along get boring petty quickly. It is good to keep some flexibility and maybe change plans as desires and goals change.
